We have been return customers for years until recently. Seems like everything has gone down hill since losing their Clarion name. In the past, we always like dealing with with one person each and every time because in the past we were always treated like family. I guess we were banished from the family because to get a return call for the best rates possible has become non-existent. Another issue we have is, even though being a Choice hotel member and used to earning rewards points, they reassur... Read more

My best friend and I get together and go to Gatlinburg every fall to catch up and get away for the weekend. This year, we neglected to reserve a room, because we didn't realize just how busy it would be. After checking 8 hotels, we finally found the LAST room at Black Bear. We had a decent stay, in spite of the chaos that ensued: First, the staff was awesome. Robert was friendly, helpful, and funny. Give him a major pat on the back. A storm blew in late in the evening, and, when we got to o... Read more

We went in October and got a balcony suite overlooking the parkway. It was a 2 room suite with fireplace and jacuzzi tub. The location is good with the ski tram almost across the street. They were having a car show, which we were unaware of, the cars were very noisy outside our room till late into the night. The police finally showed up and it was much quieter after 5hat. The breakfast is ok, they do make omelets to your order, otherwise it‚??s just ok. The hotel is clean and the staff were nice... Read more

Came for a long weekend rates were reasonable, room was nice. We stayed in the king suite that offered a hot tub and fireplace. A previous reviewer stated the fireplace made the room smell like gas, very true we too had to shut it off and air out our room. The hotel staff was very accommodating, housekeeping kept our room tidy and refilled our toiletries daily. Breakfast was good, not great but since it's included in your stay what's there to complain about! It was conveniently located right on ... Read more

It was lovely! Had a new looking room with a separate bedroom and Jacuzzi tub, a fireplace, nice living room area, and a balcony overlooking the Gatlinburg strip. I was surprised at the nit picky reviews this hotel has received recently. Nothing is perfect, and I thought, with the fires last year, the city has done an amazing job of repairing and getting things back in order. Wonderful trip!!

Stayed here for three nights in late October. Had a king suite with fireplace and jacuzzi. From the pictures it appeared that the jacuzzi and fireplace were in the same room, but they were in different rooms. Fireplace was in living room and jacuzzi was in bedroom. Not a huge deal but I had been hoping for them to be in same room. Jacuzzi worked great, hot water not an issue (I had read some reviews saying that hot water was slow or didn't work, we had plenty of hot water no problem -- we we... Read more

We've been staying here with family at least a half dozen times for nearly two decades, and our recent experience has been the most disappointing. The place lost (or chose to not renew) their Clarion Choice Hotel status. That fact, along with the fact that the group marketing manager has found employment elsewhere in town, were both red flags to us. Hot water was non-existent...the front desk said it was a known plumbing issue? That's just one of the many issues here as the rooms and ameniti... Read more

My recent trip to the Black Bear Inn which we went for the assumption it was still Clarion Inn & Suites. We had a terrible room experience they are all run down not up to date.We were told rooms were completely refurbished since fires but not from what we viewed. Staff was very poor as well. Definitely not what it was prior to losing their title of Clarion Inn.

I really don't mind if hotels discount their nightly rates and add a resort/service fee as long as they are up front about it. This inn hides that fee in the taxes and won't disclose it unless you ask them specifically about it. I really don't like that deceptive practice.

we began staying there in 2013... for the price then it was a 3 to 3.5 star motel with us. since 2013 we began staying there exclusively, however with each passing trip ( 2-3 times a year, from 3 nights to 7). our experiences became less tolerable. I just came back from Gatlinburg again yesterday, but I DID NOT STAY THERE. I tried to, but was told when called to give them one more chance to do better, " I'm sorry but we cannot take your reservation right now as we are busy. would you please... Read more
