Our stay at this Marriott property was not necessarily bad, but there are definitely some things that they need to work out. First, the good things. The staff actually seemed to be well trained and were very hospitable. I interacted with probably four or five different employees that were very nice and friendly. The breakfast was also quite good. Even though gold members are only entitled to a continental breakfast, the hot items were included for us. The staff there were great as well. The ho... Read more

Over two nights, we suffered the following issues: 1) Room temperature was uncontrollable. Thermostat stayed between 72-74 (too hot), despite setting it to 64 for over 24 hours (see pics attached). Maintenance was called and came - they said they "needed to check the chiller" and we never heard from them again. The temp never changed. 2) Bathroom tile grout had mildew, and the toilet top had a ring of black which was visible (see pics). 3) When elevator was way over-capacity, I tried unsucc... Read more

Great downtown location with easy walking access to the nearby pubs, restaurants and services. Staff was friendly and check in was painless. The room was average , standard bathroom, bed, desk. The wireless did work well.

This is the 2nd year in a row we‚??re stayed at this location for the Honors Chorus concert. After sweating to death all night the first night because the room never would cool less than 75 degrees, we were moved into two other rooms but the same result. The last maintenance man said the whole hotel was like this because since it was cool outside, the chiller for the whole hotel was not working. After watching 3 different maintenance workers remove d the faceplate of three different rooms, th... Read more

This hotel is located right in the heart of things. You can't beat the location. They charge for parking ($15/night) although you can park for slightly less ($10/night) across the street in the parking lot immediately in front of the Embassy Suites. The central location makes it convenient to walk to most shops, galleries, bars and restaurants. Nearby is the convention center which was pretty obvious as on Saturday evening, many of the hotel occupants were dressed up and heading over there. Whi... Read more

I booked this hotel for business purposes months in advance. On the Day of my arrival, I called the hotel and confirmed late arrival. Imagine to my surprise when I went to check in around 10:30pm and found "I had been bumped due to their overbooking". They explained this is ‚??standard procedure‚?? in the lodging business. They reassured me that they had found another hotel for me AND were going to cover the cost. The hotel was not "comparable", and was actually in the middle of a renovation, wi... Read more

The family recently stayed at the Winston-Salem Marriott and we had a nice visit. We were there for a college parents weekend and it was another local colleges homecoming so the hotel was packed. The property is fairly generic as far as Marriotts go. It was in decent condition but could use some updating. Everything was in working condition. The staff was super friendly and supportive, especially given how crazy busy it was. We were shocked that some of the staff parking cars and some... Read more

Stayed for three nights and was pleasantly surprised. The convention space is a little dated but, the service was great by the front desk and restaurant staff. Breakfast buffet had great selection and was inexpensive.

This appears to be the top hotel in downtown Winston-Salem. So supposedly it should be top notched. But imagine walking into the bathroom and see a big patch of yellowish on the toilet seat! And it wipes off when you apply some toilet paper on it! That's my own experience for the recent stay. I called the front desk about this afterwards. The gentleman on the phone somehow didn't sound surprised at all. Just no biggie, it seems. Housecleaning aside, the hotel looks a bit old. The air ventilat... Read more

Extremely disappointed with the lack of communication between hotel management and the Security department. I have zero complaints about my stay itself or the general hotel staff. From the Valet to the agents who assisted with check-in/check-out, they were all great however communication since then has been horrible. Having worked in Hospitality for some time myself, along with my uncle who has been in the industry 30 years now, responsiveness with customers makes all the difference. Sadly, thi... Read more
