I have been staying at the Marriott East Side since the place opened more than twenty years ago, and without a doubt, I have spent more nights at this hotel than any other hotel. I return again and again because the Marriott East Side always meets my high expectations for a relatively small, full service hotel in a big city environment. There are at least seven good reasons why I choose the Marriott East Side when I stay in NYC: First, while the Marriott East Side, with 646 rooms, may seem lar... Read more

Perfect location: close to many of the sights, and a short walk from the Rockefeller Center and Times Square. My room was comfy, although not huge. The bed was very comfortable. The area can be a bit noisy, if like me you don't come from a big city (the cars honking the whole night can disturb your sleep even if you are staying on a higher floor - bring earplugs). The only minus was the heater - quite loud when turned on (at first I thought there was a garbage truck parked under my window!). The... Read more

Another great stay at a Marriott as I've come to expect from this brand. This was my fifth trip in a row where I've needed to request early check-in at various Marriotts and have been accommodated without hesitation each time. The lobby is nice and the bar/café area gets the job done but really you should be dining outside the hotel as there are literally hundreds of various restaurants (a few are very famous) within easy walking distance to the hotel. Our room was a little on the small side... Read more

I've stayed at this hotel several times for on both business and pleasure trips. The hotel is a bit dated, but is well run and efficient. The location is superb - walking distance to all the sites of midtown and near subways to get anywhere in the city quickly.

My husband and I love this hotel. It is in a perfect location. The subway is near by and endless food options all around this hotel. The staff goes above and beyond to make your stay memorable and up to your standards. Our room was very large and clean. The front entrance is beautiful and we enjoyed eating and having drinks at the 525 LEX Restaurant & Lounge. The grab and go breakfast was also a nice option. We have stayed here several times and will be back!

I recently stayed at the New York Marriott Eastside, and was very pleased with every aspect of this hotel. Upon check-in, I was greeted warmly by front desk attendant Fred, who helped me change me room type and upgrade my room for no extra charge. We are gold members, and took advantage of the M club, which is the concierge lounge. The M club was very spacious, and served a hot breakfast every morning with assorted cereals, pastries, eggs, bacon or sausage, breakfast potatoes, fresh fruit, bread... Read more

We used to stay in this hotel a few times a year. We have family in New York City and this location worked well for us. The problem with this hotel is that they just don't care about guest satisfaction. The hotel is usually sold out so it doesn't matter if your satisfied with things because there is some one right behind you ready to take your place! The rooms are also small and dated. Find someplace else to stay, just not worth it!

We're Marriott Gold members so they put us on the 16th floor with lounge privileges. Room thermostat settings have no relation to actual room temperature. We were hot under heavy bedding both nights we stayed there even though we set the room temp to 68 deg. F. I'd suggest a different hotel if you're temperature sensitive. Members lounge has sparse pickings in the evening and I'd suggest staying clear of the decaf labeled coffee because it probably isn't.

The hotel is great. The room was comfortable and clean and consistent with the Marriott brand standards. Staff was professional and helpful. It is an easy walk to 5th Ave, Grand Central Station and the subway. My only complaint was the night time noise outside the hotel. I was on the 12th floor and heard every siren, every dump truck and horn. Stay here but be prepare for noise while you are trying to sleep. This is nothing within Marriott's control but something a future guest should know about... Read more

Based on some of the negative reviews posted earlier I was a bit concerned prior to arriving. However, my experience was very positive. I was in town for a meeting at the UN and was able to get there quickly in the morning. The hotel is in a good location and is close to many restaurants and other attractions. The staff was very helpful and the M Lounge was quite nice. I would definitely stay here again!
