I recently stayed at the Marriott east side hotel 15.- 21 oct 2017. I received an urgent call very early in the morning, about 5am, from my family asking me to get a document signed, notarized and couriered over to Melbourne that day. I was not at all sure where I would be able to get this done! But Marriott came to the rescue - i was saved by Angela Cooper, a staff at the hotel, who not only arrived at work at 6.30am, she physically came over to my room, witnessed the signing of the document, n... Service was good but our room had peeling paint in two spots on the ceiling. For the kind of money we spent - and the Marriott points were used - should not be shabby. Not again. Desk responsive but the carpeting on stairs looked worn and not inviting and the place could use some sprucing.

I found great weekend gateway vacation package by Marriott for 2nites 3 days including Delta Airfare for $645, so went solo. Every major sightseeing spots in Mid-Upper town of Manhattan are walking distance from this hotel. The hotel is historic with 1920s decoration throughout hotel. Room is well renovated and well equipped. My room 1919 even came with mini fridge. No room service, but there are cafe and restaurant on lobby level. So many eateries in few steps away from hotel, you don't need ... Read more

I am looking at the other reviews confused if they stayed in the same hotel as me. First off, its not a brand spanking new build. Its an Art Deco building, it's old, it has character. My room was on the 6th floor, with 2 queen beds- we had more then enough room to move about, and we are 2 chubby menopausal women. I had no issues with street noise- we are in New York City, you know the city that never sleeps. Water pressure in the showers I took was strong and consistent. For the amenity charge, ... Read more

We stayed at this hotel on our "mini-moon" to NYC. The hotel was clean and staff was accommodating, but this is definitely a predominantly business trip sort of hotel. Most of the guests seemed to be business people on overnights, and the hotel reflected that. Simple, without anything too exciting or innovative. Great if you're just looking for a place to crash, but not romantic or terribly exciting.

Our room on the 31st floor was very nice. A little small (only 1 person could pass the bed at a time) but it's Manhattan! Easy walk to Central Park, Rockefeller Centere, the theatre district, and the Veteran's Day parade!

I? stayed here the weekend of Nov 10th and 11th. My room was a good size (especially for NYC). I? would suggest that anyone that makes a reservation here should request a room on a high floor to avoid the street traffic noise. I? had a special request and the staff was very accommodating and helpful. I? did miss having the option of room service but overall I enjoyed my stay and appreciated the helpful staff.

We were there on work assignment. It was average.... but for NYC.. I guess I forgot to lower my expectations. Actual holes in the sheets on the bed.. actual holes! ( they were clean, so that's something) Water in shower on 14th floor? I guess It wasn't just our room- as the lady in the elevator commented on the 'trickle' she stood under trying to take a shower. To say it didn't have pressure was an understatement. It made a quick shower impossible... Oh! And bring your own soap. There is a s... Read more

Unlike anywhere else I have stayed in the Marriott brand you should expect a $25 USD per day "amenity" charge even if you have no interest in the amenities. This seems just a rip off way to get more money for nothing even if you are in a room paying $500 USD per night! Read the small print as this is not normal for Marriott to do this.

We went to New York to see my niece run the NYC Marathon. We stayed one night at the Marriott East Side, but you'd have thought we were regulars by the treatment we got from the staff. Everyone was super nice & helpful. In fact, I did not run into one new yorker who wasn't nice. The bed was super comfy and although the room was small by non-city standards, it was certainly nice enough. I would go back. 4 blocks from Grand Central. Close to subway stop.
