Hotel St. Regis was the first place I stayed when I came to MI 20 years ago. The hotel is dated and let's hope for renovation upgrade consistent with the fantastic improvements along Woodward and the Wayne State area. Impressive to say the least. Most impressive at the hotel was Chelsea at the front desk. She was phenomenal. I'd hire her in a minute. The two women valets were friendly, helpful, and outstanding representatives of the Hotel.

The good: A lovely, historic hotel. Much of the common areas were fairly well kept. Ample space for our large +/- 400 person group. Guest rooms were decent. Bed was fairly comfortable and clean. Many of the staff were friendly and accommodating. Housekeeping ladies were very polite. On-site restaurant and bar. Liquor store and CVS store was within one block and there were a lot of small shops/restaurants at nearby buildings. Light rail train was within one block. Freeway was within 2 blocks. Th... Everything too much trouble, most staff polite, some extremely rude and knew it. Breakfast was a farce, buy toast and orange juice, no cereal or yoghurt, water for tea and coffee not hot enough, styrene cups aarrgghhhhh! Simply could not cope with the number of people, some staff outright complained about the lack of tips, well here,s a tip, a small amount of good service would have been rewarded. Would not stay there again because it was a very poor hotel. I too hope it is bought by someone wit... Read more

We were with a group that booked the whole hotel. Response time to anything was incredibly slow. Rooms are what you would expect in an original Route 66 Motel. La Musique restaurant should be renamed La Mystique because it was a mystery what was going to be available on the menu. My guess is that they were on COD because so much wasn't available and they didn't have enough money to fulfill the menu selections. Water temperatures came in waves from cold to hot to cold to warm to cold to kinda ... Read more

We are here for a week, and I must say it's very hit and miss, warm ,tepid water one day then freezing cold the next The breakfast is awful, in my opinion, charges for orange juice? No yoghurt etc, not what I'd expected, but on the plus side the room is spacious and the beds are very comfortable, cleaned every day, the staff are very friendly (as you would expect) I wouldn't stay here again as there's not much around the hotel, and taxis are expensive Oh well never mind

The staff was extremely nice and helpful! Loved my room. The bed was amazingly comfortable. Could use a few more electrical outlets in the living area, but it's an older hotel, so not sure if that's possible. I loved the feel of this hotel, the history. Some say dark - I thought it was great. Not the super modern hotels being built now, has character. The business center was open 24 hours. Didn't have time to use the restaurant. I didn't have any parking needs, so I'm not sure what was a... Read more

This is at best a three star hotel, maybe worse. The bad: Our room had a bedside light that had the light switch missing, so it was dysfunctional. All bulbs were too dim and it was hard to see in the bathroom mirrors. There was no way to control the heat in the room and it was a bit hot. Walls were thin. And the neighborhood is definitely not great. Pillows were big and bulky. The room was average size. The good: Comfortable bed. Nice restaurant on premises, though again, three star n... Read more

Older hotel built to cater to visitors to the old General Motors Building across the street. When GM moved its HQ St. Regis lost business. The GM Building is now State offices. Rooms are old and relatively Spartan. The bed was comfortable. Linens clean. Housekeeping pretty good. TV was missing basic channels until I complained and got ESPN on time for the national championship game. Restaurant is awful. Service surly and slow. Enjoy telling you NO. Front desk staff seems a bit exa... Read more
