Recently in NOLA for business meeting. Conference hotel was expensive and had stayed there before. Looked around for another option using location--proximity to downtown and French Quarter, ease of access-- tram line, quick driving, quiet, and cost effectiveness as criteria. Found the Melrose and sister properties. Booked Melrose and was completely satisfied. Arrived very late. Met by wonderful young person (Shannon) at desk. Handed a glass of wine after a very long travel day and booked ... Read more

Loved our stay at the Melrose Mansion. We just returned from our visit to New Orleans and thanks to Trip Advisor reviews found this perfect little gem. The location is great easy walking to French Quarter and even easier to Frenchman street. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating and friendly. From the moment we arrived Shannon was at the desk and had great recommendations on where to eat. Our last morning John was at the desk and wonderful to talk with great recommendations as well. T... Stayed at the Melrose Mansion for Christmas. The location was perfect for us! It is in a quiet residential neighborhood. Walking distance (about 8-10 minutes) to the French Quarter and Frenchman's Street, but far enough away from that you aren't affected by the craziness of Bourbon Street. We stayed, not in the mansion itself, but in a house a couple doors down. The rooms were huge! In fact, they are actually one bedroom apartments with full kitchens and Jacuzzi tubs. It felt like we were living... Read more

I loved my stay here. I spent 4 nights in Napoleon #2. My room was spacious and very authentic of the old mansion style. However, not old at all, the bed and pillows were like heaven after a long day in a the French quarter. The shower was fabulous w it's "rain faucet " and perfect pressure. The staff was "A plus" from its greetings to our exit. The continental bfast was perfect too-- I especially enjoyed the hot croissants very much! I walked everywhere from here. And enjoyed it being tuck... Read more

Excellent place to stay for a few days to explore NO. Close to the French Quarter, but in a quieter neighborhood. Elegant renovation of an old building. Lovely pool in a courtyard. Even in December, it was a wonderful place to relax. Very comfortable, large rooms. Staff is pleasant and helpful. Only negative is an extreeeemly poor breakfast. They really should do better given the room rates. It's the only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars.

We stayed here for 3 nights while travelling from the UK. The hotel is in quite a quiet area. Within easy reach of Bourbon St. The staff were very helpful and polite. Our room was nice, perfect for what we needed. Wine and cheese/biscuits on a evening was a lovely touch. Thank you for a lovely stay

Great location; beautiful place; lovely pool; nice people. Would be happy to stay there again any time! Rooms are all lively and well-appointed. Staff is friendly and responsive. Would be nice if the in-room refrigerators were stocked, though.

My sister and I were in town to visit another sister- this was close to her. We were in the Burgundy room right on the 1st floor in the main house; the room was beautiful and spacious, great shower, but could use better lighting in the bathroom- had to do makeup in the room with big windows providing adequate light. Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was continental and "so-so"; it would have been helpful to have a few more amenities- info book in room, TV guide, vending machines. We did hear s... Read more
