An overnight stay at Baton Rouge Marriott was a pleasant surprise. True, It has some dings and bumps. However, the hotel is currently undergoing a renovation and we were fortunate to stay at one of the newer rooms. We enjoyed: *A warm and inviting staff. I believe Korey, checked us. He is very kind and funny. Which was much needed after dealing with a cancelled flight. * A fully stocked bar. Again, much needed after dealing with our flight woes. * A nice selection of apps and entrees for ... Read more

I stayed at this hotel for three days during a business trip in January 2017, and renovations had just begun. Updating and refurbishing are well overdue, so the normal Marriott standards do not apply. Almost all details of the hotel (guest rooms and public areas) have signs of wear and tear, and in some instances delayed maintenance is evident. The front counter staff are friendly and understanding, but that is the only positive for now. I will not return until the current changes are comple... Read more

I have driven by this hotel for more than 30 years and have never stopped to stay the night. On my last trip back from Alabama I had not gotten a lot of sleep and had to stop in Baton Rouge instead of driving straight through to Houston. I looked online and the hotel had a great rate and I decided to give it a try. Reviews were horrible but, for those that stayed in the recently remodeled rooms, their reviews were very good, and I could not agree more. A great room with a great view, friendly st... Read more

Bad News: This hotel has been ridden hard and put away wet. Badly in need of renovation. Great news: Displayed plans in the lobby of their room renovation! Great location for the LSU events and subsequent party and certainly shows it. Marriot fixing the rooms. Good for them. Unfortunately needs to up the current management attention. Late evening check-in found 3 young college-age clerks who messed up the check-in (failed to get my welcome points, recognition as Platinum member) and an... Read more

I spent three nights. The first morning I took a shower - and the drain was apparently clogged. I called and requested maintenance. They assured me it would be taken care of. The next day it was still clogged. And when I returned to my room it was quite apparent by the hair-balls in the bottom of the tub - it had not been cleaned. I was very disappointed. I called a second time - and I have no idea if they ever resolved the issues. But this was not a good place to stay in my opinion.

I was going to say that if you can't stay on the renovated floors, don't stay at all. Now, I'd just say, don't stay here at all. My room was old- which wouldn't have been a problem for me. I've stayed at many older Marriotts which have been perfectly serviceable. This Marriott was dirty, in addition to being old, and that's where I draw the line. My beds clearly had been used, when I checked in. There was a used washcloth hanging in the dirty shower. Someone had wiped boogers (I hope it was... Read more

Room was gross. Dust on the toilet lid, stains on sheets and carpeting, scratched furniture....dated and unpleasant. Even at cheap prices I would avoid this place. Staff was friendly but this place needs total rehab.

Dirty and stained mattress pads, torn sheets, dirt behind bed. Requested new ones and was handed a torn sheet and a duvet. They left the old stained ones on floor in hall. Not clean. Dated and torn walls and fixtures. Automatic 40$ incidental charge.

While renovations are underway this hotel has not been appreciably changed since I was here 15 years ago. While November is a super slow period of time for conventions, this property would not rate high. Old rooms, old bedding and tiny bathrooms seem to be abundant here. Sometime in the future they may be better, but this is not the star of the fleet.
