My four children and I stayed here over this past weekend. We are locals, but needed a break from the freezing temps and stresses of real-life. We stayed in the family suite, which was so big, we could have probably accommodated several more people! (I like the idea of a family suite, because I don't feel comfortable with my 11-year-old being the oldest in a separate room--even adjoining.) My four children and I stayed here over this past weekend. We are locals, but needed a break from the freezing temps and stresses of real-life. We stayed in the family suite, which was so big, we could have probably accommodated several more people! (I like the idea of a family suite, because I don't feel comfortable with my 11-year-old being the oldest in a separate room--even adjoining.) The footprint of the room is quite big--a large main room, and then a second, private room. The first room had a full-sized sofa bed and a king bed, dresser, tv, and 2 nightstands. It was also equipped with a kitchenette--microwave, sink, refrigerator--as well as plenty of cabinet space to store snacks, bottles, etc. I was pleased that they left a complimentary bottle of dish soap, meaning I could wash bottles and sippy cups with ease. There was also a coffee table and one arm chair. Bathroom was large and serviceable, and well-lit. The second, smaller room also held a king bed, a desk, 2 nightstands, and a dresser with a tv. The entire space was very clean, and I never had any concerns with my toddler sometimes crawling around on the carpet. The hotel itself is quiet--I think I heard maybe a few footsteps, but that was all. We did get a noise complaint about us (The people below said we were stomping around when we were packing up,) but the staff was courteous when they spoke to us. (We were walking around, but not stomping. I'm wondering if perhaps the floors are a little more hollow than the ones we have at home.)
The only things that I wished we had were more or larger trash cans (there was one for the entire space, with an additional in the bathroom, and a table and chairs to play cards, eat, etc. Our kids were happy to sit on the floor around the coffee table to have dinner, and thank goodness, the carpet was clean enough for sure. I don't know where they would fit it in, though, and if it's between a large bed and a table/chairs, I pick the large bed.
We were there mainly to take advantage of the pool, and I was very relieved to find that not only was it indoor, but heated. It felt like bathwater, and you could just walk right in!
Breakfast was good--the first day was better than the second day, but we arrived much earlier for breakfast the first day, and I think our selection was better. We went down for breakfast the second day about an hour before they stopped serving and they had already stopped replacing items. (They took the sausage gravy completely out, and replaced it with a second tray of eggs.) Even with this, we were all happy with our selections, and got plenty to eat. Along with your standard continental breakfast fare, they offered omelettes, sausage, biscuits, and gravy the first day, and scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits (and at least one point) and gravy the second day. I would avoid the pancake maker--it's a fun novelty, but the pancakes come out kind of laminated and rubbery. The kids liked it, but didn't actually eat what they made. The best thing is THAT THEY HAVE HIGH CHAIRS! This is a big deal for us, since I don't enjoy trying to eat my breakfast while holding my 11-month-old with grabby hands on my lap.
The layout of the hotel makes it very easy to park and get to your rooms, and I felt very safe for the entirety of our stay. We were on a quiet weekend, but I have the feeling that it stays relatively quiet--focusing on families. We were right next to the elevator and ice maker, but the noise we got from these only seemed like white noise. It never felt intrusive or disturbed us.
The staff was very friendly--especially the clerk who checked us in on Friday night. We had a little issue with the evening clerk the next night regarding billing (they tried to charge us a second time for the stay,) and she was a little pushy, but I was able to clear things up fairly quickly. Otherwise, everyone was very friendly, and seemed to enjoy interacting with the guests. The kitchen staff that set up the breakfast really seemed to enjoy talking to my kids, and the kids liked them as well.
All in all, I would stay here again, and recommend to anyone coming to Lafayette--especially those with a large family, to check it out!
