History

This St. Augustine hotel`s intimate size and feel are reminiscent of a boutique hotel, and yet it offers the extensive services and facilities that are usually found only in much larger St. Augustine hotels. The charming, vibrant Spanish Colonial Period structure consists of a ``hollow square`` design, surrounded by 19 different buildings set around an inner courtyard and connected by an interior corridor. The buildings were inspired by the Second Spanish Colonial historic period, with wooden balconies, cedar-shake and tile roofs, with different elevations and colors that allow it to blend in with its surroundings. Virtually all of the rooms at our Hilton St. Augustine, Florida hotel offer stunning views of Matanzas Bay or the city of St. Augustine`s historic district.

Horse drawn carriages and the Historic Trolley transport visitors from our hotel in St. Augustine, FL through the streets of the old city. Historical points of interest include the Spanish Colonial Castillo de San Marco National Monument, dating from 1672, the original Government House and the magnificent Victorian structures of the period built by Henry Flagler including Flagler College formerly his grand hotel..

The St. Augustine, Florida hotel`s facilities include an outdoor pool and hot tub, fitness center, business center, concierge service and a guest laundry and valet service. The Menendez and Ponce rooms, 800 square feet each or 1600 square feet when combined, can accommodate meetings of up to 125 people or of banquets up to 100. The 250 square foot Board Room can accommodate 12 and offers views of the bay.

Dining

The Aviles restaurant and Lounge within the Hilton St. Augustine Historic Bayfront hotel features creative global cuisine with touches from the region surrounding Aviles, the sister city of St. Augustine in Spain. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and includes an outdoor dining area. ``Experience History from St. Augustine`s Point of View``. Travel should take you places!

Stayed 3 nights recently on an organized bike tour. On the positive, it is very well located and the staff are very attentive. Had breakfast daily and was tasty. But unfortunately the negatives outweigh the positive, resulting in an average score overall. The rooms were very dated, in desperate need of an upgrade. The walls were paper thin, resulting in noise at night. And in spite of numerous rooms with balconies, we were given a small end of the hall room that faced the street behind. Furtherm... Read more

the hotel was where martin luther king,jr. was once arrested.there is a great memorial.centrally located.there is a parking garage and valet service but one rarely needs a car.the staff was superb.the restaurant is small but the food quality was quite good.spend a few dollars more and stay in the middle of town.it is well worth it.

We stayed one night - a Saturday night as we attended a wedding at the White Room. I got a bayfront room. It had been remodeled & was very nice. We faced the east along the bay. We had a little bit of street noise in the morning. We slept through the sun rise so the heavy drapes were nice. Breakfast was excellent

We had a fabulous stay with a bay front room including a small balcony (weather was too chilly to sit outside) but it was a spacious, clean room. The staff was spectacular from the moment we drove up until we drove away. We had one breakfast in dining room which was delicious and not too overpriced and one dinner at 4 pm and they let us choose from either lunch or dinner menu. We shared a wonderful burger and huge salad and it was happy hour until 8 pm. This hotel looks like it was here in the 1... Read more

My husband and I have stayed here for a 4 day weekend twice in the last few months - once with our six year old and once just us. The location is perfect. Both times we booked a bayfront balcony and could not have been more pleased with the beautiful view of the bridge of lions from our balcony. The rooms are cleans and surprisingly modern considering the location and old world appearance of the outside of the hotel. The hotel is also in walking distance to everything you could possibly want ... Read more

Spent a night at the Hilton St Augustine Bayfront recently and couldn't be more pleased. The resort is situated across from the bay, surrounded by old town St Augustine! Everything we needed was within walking distance; tourist sites, Flagler College and literally dozens of restaurants! If I had any complaint it would be that the room was a bit small. Not surprising when you consider the age of the building. The staff were all courteous, friendly and polite. All in all a great stay. Highl... Read more

Great 3 night stay in 1st floor room with balcony overlooking the bay. Room was close to the street and surprisingly quiet. Easy walk to all attractions and great restaurants. Breakfast in the restaurant was excellent. Would highly recommend this hotel.

The main reason to pay the premium price to stay at the Historic Bayfront Hilton is location. In this ancient town, streets are narrow, some are pedestrian only, and parking is at a premium. So, stay here at the Hilton and you can walk to the fort, to the historic quarter, to Flagler College and all the little shops and restaurants. We stayed in the main building in a second floor balcony room. The balcony actually overlooks an alley and the balcony of the neighboring hotel, so don't expect quai... Read more

The hotel has several buildings with different type rooms & views. The gentleman at the front desk helped us choose the best room for us. We enjoyed our balcony overlooking the bay. Valet/concierge guys are terrific especially Paul! Terrific location, walk to everything! Will definitely return.
