The hotel is nice and in the center. The neighborhood looks bad if you are taking the wrong way to go to center. Look in the hotel, they recommend a better road (same time and much nicer). The price of the hotel is good, complimentary breakfast is nice, food is nice as well, nothing fancy but ok (Sandwich, cereals, orange juice, coffee, pancakes etc..) And big ++++: The staff is really friendly!! I had an issue with a shirt i forgot but the staff was really kind and reactive!! Thanks Matthew Sal... Read more

This hotel is located in the Tenderloin neighborhood of San Francisco near Van Ness - whilst the location is convenient the Tenderloin is a notoriously dirty neighborhood of SF. The hotel itself is basic but requires a remodel, I got a great rate for the hotel and it was comfortable and served me well although I found the fact that no kettle was provided to be a little odd. The heater in my room was also very noisy and the street noise was audible from my room on the 5th floor. If you can g... Read more

Visited in July 2016 with my family. The rooms were clean, funny reception. Complimentary breakfast is nice - food is ok. Would visit again. P.S. don't worry about the neighborhood, downtown is just a few minutes walk away.

Staff were friendly, especially in the restaurant who went above and beyond. Rooms were okay but cold. However the surrounding neighbourhood is awful, and the hotel is on the worst street. We didn't feel safe walking outside and the streets were noisy at night. The shuttle is useful but doesn't compensate.

Staff were great, hotel was nice. The neighbourhood is situated in the tenderloin district which is americas meth capital after some research. After a 30 min walk around we got abused by meth heads and provocative comments were made about my gf. On top of that we saw a street fight start. We decided to head back to the hotel and lock our selves away, as we didn't feel safe at all walking around. The restaurant attached to the hotel is incredible the chicken and waffles is to die for. If ur looki... Read more

I was a little concerned after reading reviews on the location in the Tenderlion, so I had the worst case sceneries in mind. So I was pleasantly surprised with the area (although it was a winter visit), and with the team in the shuttle to take you in to Union Square/Fishermans wharf (thanks Monica) they have more than compensated for the neighbourhood. The upshot of it is if this hotel was in a less edgy area you would be paying a lot more. The rooms were well appointed and clean, but I wi... Read more

San Francisco is an expensive city so if you are looking somewhere clean and affordable this is the place. Yes it is situated in the Tenderloin district but it really didn't bother us as we really only used the Hotel as a place to rest at night. We did take advantage of the free shuttle service on offer to Union Square and Fishermans Wharf (this must be pre booked at reception) and used uber/lyft for other trips after dark. We did not feel unsafe although we were wary of walking around in the da... Read more

People were friendly and the saving grace was a really good and clean bed. Otherwise the room was super basic and dated. No A/C (but a fan beside the bed) and not a single drawer in the room for unpacking into. And the neighborhood! Human feces on the sidewalk about a block away.

Quite nice - between good and average. Rooms are clean. Location is good - 15 min to union square. But you have to take Geary st to the city center because Ellis st is quite dangerous. Lots of dealers and homeless people. I was warned by 3 different uber drivers and that was true.

Decided to do a spontaneously weekend trip to San Francisco and stayed at the Cova. Without knowing where to go on such a quick trip, Shadon (one of the hotel staff) suggested a few great places to visit. She was extremely helpful and lovely! Our trip was definitely a memorable one because of her. Thank you Shadon for your excellent customer service!!
