I was torn between 3 and 4 stars, let's say 3.5 overall. First, this is a ginormous hotel, host to large conferences, etc. Thus there are a lot of people around at all times and it clearly wears on the staff, who appeared weary and a bit grumpy during most of my interactions. The rooms are average Marriott style, nothing fancy, but comfortable enough. The pool and other amenities were enjoyable and well maintained. The location is good, right on the Marina with access to both the seaport vi... Read more

We stayed here of MLK weekend in January. We extensively researched all the hotels in the San Diego area and landed on the Marquis. It was just Eh. Marquis are typically massive, but I think it was too massive for us. There were so many events going on. There were hoards and crowds of people in every corner of the hotel. Everything was busting at the seams. This is also another Marriott property where your Platinum Premier stays means nothing. They just don't care. With the volume of people, t... Read more

Great oasis after a long cross country drive. Great harbor views and short walk to Gaslight District. Very convenient. Decent to excellent dining choices in the hotel. The room was comfortable and large. Classic Marriott beds (I want one!) The staff was excellent. Really made us feel like we were truly welcome. Everybody was on point. This is a large hotel so things are a bit spread out this is not necessarily a knock, just a comment to those who might be looking for a bit of charm. That is th... Read more

The Marriot is a great location near the Gas Light district and downtown. The hotel has great staff and is conveniently located near the convention center. The hotel has excellent views from all locations. The rooms are spacious and clean.

Great location for easy downtown or gas lamp district. The convention area was nice and set up well for our meetings. We reserved 2 rooms and both were nicely appointed. The rate was fair for San Diego but the valet costs are crazy !! The hotel restaurant and bar are great. The only downside is a the pillows were very uncomfortable for us.

Easy access to everything near downtown. Boardwalk behind hotel takes you to ferry for Coronado, trolley out front of Marriott to all "burbs." Old Town, Balboa Park, Little Italy, Gaslamp and South Park. Pool is nice, lounge at night is fun and noisy w/ trio band. South Tower corner room has exceptional view!

Stayed on biz trip and had view of bay which was nice. North tower rooms have balcony but I asked for south tower as that is where exec lounge is located. If you are a gold member and been to other Marriotts worldwide you will find this lounge ver disappointing. Closed on Sunday's. fountain soda only and charge for beer and wine...even the terrible airline lounges give a free drinks as do Marriotts in other parts of the world. Room was fine but not special. Ok for vacation but for biz I'll prob... Read more

The Marriott Marquis is in a class by itself! Beautiful rooms, amenities, dining, perfect setting and location, and stunning views for days, but what REALLY makes this grand resort stand above so many others is their dedication for fitness and health. My husband and I are Elite Platinum Marriott Rewards Members and we travel 2-4 months of the year. Of all the many wonderful hotels we have stayed in, the Marriott Marquis is far and above the BEST when it comes to their fitness center. The g... Read more

This is a big, big hotel with lots of convention goers, but the views are spectacular from all of the ocean view rooms. There are twenty four or twenty five floors so almost all of the rooms will give you an elevated view. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The room decor was pretty standard, nothing to complain about, but nothing amazing either. It's the views that make the rooms special. My room had an adjoining door and I could definitley hear just about every word of my neighbors con... Read more

Our city view room also had a bay view and was to die for. Best of both worlds. Stayed in the north tower with a balcony. Remarkable hotel, the pool/ hot tub(s) area was resort-like and felt like tropical paradise. The only down side was that the out-door restaurant closed a bit early for us. Had to walk into the downtown area to find food. Otherwise, this was the perfect hotel for a tourist that wants to stay near the boardwalk/ water. Easy access to Seaport Village, USS Midway, Maritime... Read more
