The Ghost of Kate Morgan
What Victorian resort would be complete without a resident ghost? Kate Morgan checked into the resort on November 25, 1892, and never checked out. Reports of ghostly happenings, all thought to be connected to the death of this beautiful young woman, have been circulating at The Del ever since.

When you enter this hotel you feel the history surrounding this place. It is beautiful and the staff is nice. However, the rooms are quite small and they definitely need some renovation (without changing the style). We could literally hear our neighbors very clear, all their conversations and adult « activities ». Very expensive for what you get but pay for the experience. Beds, pool, beach are all nice, but I would not go there again unfortunately. You are also very far from every... Read more

Staff in every area of hotel was exceptional. Setting was lovely. Food and drinks were highly priced, but room price was releasable. Lots of restaurants in walking distance. Refrigerator in room helps.

We just love the hotel, but the new management needs some time as most hotels with new management do. Just go and not expect a lot, because it??s history and location will exceed your expectations if you can pass the operational issues. The front desk agent though, Brandon or something, was amazing!

We booked (and stayed) for a Christmas treat. For the money paid, we were very disappointed. Check-in was set for 4PM. Cars were lined up blocks away to get into the parking lot. The lobby was a total jumble, and so poorly lit you could not see where you were going ... both too bad as it would be nice to see the woodwork, etc., as well as a safety hazard. Check-in was not without it's own problems, plus extra charges noted for every possible line item. Inclusive breakfasts were charged ... Read more

We are local to San Diego and wanted to have a special New Years Eve Experience. We booked an ocean front room in the old Victorian Building, bought New Years Eve Gala tickets, made brunch reservations as well as dinner reservations at 1500. We called to double check our reservations several times i.e month out, week out, a few days out and the day before. Arrived early to check in and it was chaotic at the front desk, the room we had requested and discussed previously at length with manageme... Read more

After a somewhat disappointing first visit to Hotel Del Coronado at Easter, my husband and I returned at the encouragement of Corey Menotti in Guest Services. I am so glad we did! We spent four nights there, and fell completely in love with the hotel. It was like stepping back in time. And the weather! It even rained two of the four days we were there and still we had a couple of hours of sun on both rainy days and time for long walks on the beach on those days, which was wonderful. Also, ... I've already written a review that was apparently published but has now disappeared. We've stayed here before, about 9 years ago. I booked a 4 night stay as a family Christmas gift. We arrived on December 27th checked in with a confirmed room in the main Victorian building. We were not given the room we booked. We were given and " up grade " in the cabana building with a patio which translated into a ground floor room backing onto a car park with smokers smoking on the other side of our patio fe... The Del is a hot mess. It has been since I graduated from high school here way back when I was taking Home Ec with Jesus. You would have thought that these guys would have fixed the crooked floors by now, or have gotten rid of the "old" smell. But they haven't. I sent my parents once for their anniversary and they came home looking at me like I made them eat all of their vegetables. Not happy. But, without a doubt this is a destination here in Coronado and usually the first place I take people ... Read more

We spent two nights at the Del with our family over New Year's Day. I had never been there and loved the elegance. It felt like I had gone back in time 70 a good way. Our rooms were spotless and complaints. The beach was gorgeous. We also really loved the guitar player/singer in the Bar ... I think his name was Gordo. What a FUN guy. I love when a hotel can find someone who makes a simple trip to the Bar a fun night. On the negative side... It was PACKED with ... Read more

Great Old Hotel, Food is excellent but alittle expensive . You can not find a better location. Staff are wonderful Having the Marines sing to you during breakfast is a Hoot. Pool is nice/ok I have seen better. The decks are great to sit and look out from. It's really the history you are staying here for
