We were staying in LA at my friends & booked a night here to visit San Diego & have arelax. Staff were really friendly & we were lucky enough to be upgraded to a lovely room overlooking pool. Had a lovely afternoon by pool. Best Mai Tai's & Mexican beer! We had our 16 year old grandson & he loved it. Would come again & stay longer

We were very disappointed in our stay at this hotel. The room was clean but we were there with a group and 3 of the 8 couples did not get the rooms that they booked. They were told they would have to move rooms and when they agreed to move to another hotel they were suddenly given the rooms they had booked. The hot tub was out of service, it was obviously a planned maintenance that was not disclosed at the time of booking. We attended a conference at the hotel which the hotel staff clearly were ... I was on a king-bed single room and found it very neat. They pre-charge an amount on your card in case you use something extra and return it at the end of the stay. When I used the restaurant, they took care of my food intolerance. I recommend it.

Been staying here for the better part of 30 years. I know what to expect, and generally enjoy my time here when I stay. As noted in many reviews, the rooms are nothing special. However, the grounds are Tropical and restful, the pool area is great, and the bartenders are first rate. HOWEVER...Service in the breakfast lounge is terrible. Booked a Bed and Breakfast stay for one night this past Wednesday. Went to the lounge to take advantage of my breakfast voucher this morning. Asked for a cup of c... Read more

The Handlery hotel is a large resort location in the middle of Mission Valley San Diego. It is very conveniently located for all attractions in the San Diego area if you are traveling with the family. If you are traveling for business in downtown San Diego you'll be staying about 15 minutes outside the city. If you are traveling for business and need to visit various locations within San Diego County this is a very centrally located hotel. The hotel rooms are clean and comfortable. The bathro... I really enjoyed the ambiance of the hotel. The rooms, while they are older, were very well furnished, clean and well kept. LOVED the two story outer building.....felt safe. The views from the balcony were great. So much tropical landscape...really gives that "San Diego" feeling. Room service was great. The pool area was beautiful. Very clean and well kept. The work out space was overlooking the pool area and very convenient. This is a botique hotel with a great location (quick ride to Z... Read more

This property really needs some work on their customer service, had a negative experience with even the smallest requests. The rooms themselves are fine, though nothing special for the money, and the overall amenities are lacking. Stay at a property with better management and save yourself some time, frustration and money.

This was an overnight stop for us, as we were picking up a cruise the following day in San Diego port. On our arrival all of the staff in the front of desk, were both very courteous and friendly. Also the following morning all the staff in the restaurant area and front of desk were all very friendly and helpful. We asked if we could go to the Old town before our taxi picked us up to meet our ship. The manager arranged a shuttle car to take us to San Diego old town, and picked us up after a f... Read more

While yes this is an older hotel without all the pazing - it was still great! We had a corner room overlooking the pool and with the rain coming down it was just fabulous - it felt like we were on a tropical island with the rain and the breeze and the palm trees. And we live just down the street so it is not like we are not familiar with San Diego - we are natives here. The staff was super friendly and outgoing and we just had a very relaxing wonderful little getaway.

Cannot complain about front desk service was great Would have been a good hotel in its day Our travel agent let us down Booked a queen twin room got a king single twin room for 4 people not so good Then we got moved to a family room which was nicer but had direct access to pool - no security, and people could see in room We were told that the good rooms were kept for overseas travellers which we got. Would hate to see the standard rooms Small rooms Old bathrooms Strange smells Low security T... Read more
