First, I am a current Marriott platinum member. Second, the vast majority of my reviews have been very positive. Unfortunately, this one is not. This property puts the "C" in "cheap." Let me count the ways. First, there was no welcome other than "do you want points or something from the market?" I don't expect a shoe shine or red carpet but some acknowledgement (or even a small gift item) is the norm for Marriott hotels for platinum members. Room service was lacking. We arrived around 9pm. The front desk staff was attentive. However with renovation, the side door closest to our room was unsecured. After a long drive, we didn't want to get up early but the renovations started at 8am. Kind of early in a Sunday. Breakfast was picked over. Not sure we would stay again even though we like the 2 bedroom suites of Residence Inn.

Foremost I have to recognize the staff at this hotel. They're prompt and very helpful when handling requests. My room was clean, all the appliances worked, the wifi was fast and easy to get on. I asked for a new coffee pot and a fan for the room, and had it within minutes, no questions asked. The staff received and gave me my incoming mail with no problems. This hotel staff was awesome. Tchelinda went out of her way to make a last minute change to my reservation due to a change in my itinerary. As I was in the middle of traveling and frantic, she was calming and reassuring. My changes were seamless to my wife and father-in-law. Lights in the dark parking lot were not on due to the timer not set correctly. Asked several times to have this corrected. Finally got them on earlier but still went off too early in the morning so it was dark when we got up each day to leave for our business. Poor security and safety. Who would have thought that one of the best hotel experiences I have had in a long time would be at a Residence Inn in Huntsville Alabama...... but it was. I called the day before check in to make sure my suite had the kitchen amenities I needed and found out I booked the wrong type of room. I am Marriott Gold and stay in many Marriott props in the Residence Inn-Springhill-Courtyard families on business, like this trip. This property is merely adequate. The good parts are that there is a HUGE shopping center nearby with several restaurants, one being the Ol Heidelberg a traditional German-style place, mit gutes bier. I am a regular at this hotel since 2002 when it opened up, spent hundreds of nights here. Didn't like very much the first renovation, too flashy in colors. Now everything seems better and the new front desk and breakfast area add a touch of novelty too. Very spacious rooms with everything you need and even TV sets in each room or room's areas. While staying at this splendid hotel we were treated to an evening of the finest hospitality, which included great food and beverages, served with grace and warmth by 3 ladies: Zyesha, Nicole and Ashley, all of whom worked very hard to please all guests who were present in the hotel's breakfast /reception area.
