I was looking forward to this ‚??boutique‚?? hotel and I‚??m sure once the renovation is complete it will be the gem of Five Points. Currently under construction to become a Hotel Indigo. Negatives based on the Reno: no valet parking, restaurant & business center are closed and parking is difficult to find if you‚??re a first time visitor. Positives are it‚??s a beautiful historic area with wonder architecture, great restaurants and walkable.

Hotel was under renovation on arrival and whilst we were aware before arrival we had no idea it was to be to this extent. Soon to become hotel indigo I can see the aim and indeed some of the decor who h is bring attempted. Sadly our too. Was unfinished. Tap in sink was broken and together with a minor leak from the shower showed the rush for completion. However news were comfortable and soft furnishings classy. The kitchen area of the suite was again unfinished sadly. I think we arrived at ... Read more

So I won't write much about the room as it will change as it becomes an Indigo property. It was either kinda creepy or really cool to stay during the reno, still not sure which! Funky and fun vibe, good sized rooms. Strange things like no toilet paper holder or place for toiletries in the shower. Rooms were clean and quiet. Really liked the location, very close to UAB Medical Center (walking distance) and there's a Starbucks and a variety of good restaurants nearby. I'd like to come back after t... Read more

This hotel has been a Go To place for us. Now it is in the middle of renovation and re-branding ( changing to Hotel Indigo ). The bar is closed and things are rather messy, like the elevators, but the room was improved and the rate was still good. The room was interesting. Mostly upgraded, but the details were not complete, like old door knobs on the bath and paint trim not complete. I would have thought they would have 100% completed the room before renting it out. That was ok with us. Room was... Read more

I had stayed at this hotel 2 years ago and LOVED it but when I arrived it was under construction and turning into a Hotel Indigo. I wish they had put that on the website when I booked the hotel room. The staff is still fabulous especially Tracy who is incredibly helpful and fun. Unfortunately, there is trash and construction debris everywhere. Its so unpleasant once you leave you room. The room is nice enough although the towels are threadbare and there is no place to set your shampoo, soap... Read more

I booked here on the advice of a friend, so I had absolutely no information on this place. I was delighted with the location, and with the room itself. Had I known about the ongoing renovations, I likely would have stayed elsewhere, but all-in-all, everything was good. The front-desk staff was helpful on several occasions, and I was very pleased with the $3 parking & free Wi-Fi. If the price is right, I will likely book here again AFTER the remodel.

Staff is phenomenal, very friendly and accommodating. Convenient to everything: close to airport, shopping and the best dining in Birmingham. Be sure to eat at the Pancake House across the street for a budget friendly, yummy breakfast.

We checked in late due to late flight into Birmingham. Lovely surprise to find our room was King Suite. The room was decorated pretty cool. Loved the chairs. The bed & linens were top of the line. We stayed only 2 nights & got up early on NYE to drive to Florida but enjoyed our 2 nights. All hotel staff were lovely & very helpful. Breakfast was good. The hotel is older but improvements are coming. We still enjoyed it very much. You do hear some street noise but not too bad. We walked up to the... Read more

Everyone we met from the valet to front desk to housekeeping was friendly and helpful. The hotel has seen better days. Upon arrival we see the hotel bar is closed. In our room the carpet was old and unpleasant. The king bed was comfortable but the sofa bed horrendous. The TV's were small and had a crappy SD picture. Saturday morning they stopped refreshing the free breakfast offering well before it ended. Saturday night the valet just wasn't there. We had to self park in the garage around th... Read more

I've stayed at the Highland several times over the years, and stayed there last night. The bar was recently closed for good after steady decline. No batteries in my TV remote. Apparently you have to call down to the desk to obtain AC. Miserable night, hot. Maid walked in my room at 10:30am. Will move to Redmont next time.
