I am in awe of the miles of unspoiled soft sandy beaches of St Croix. The friendly restful Carribean seaport town of Fredricksted, at the western end of the island is being transformed. Age old Danish wharehouses and sugar shacks are being refurbished into charming farm/ocean to table restaurants and quaint storefronts. Just steps from a beach that reminds me of the unspoiled Southern California beaches from the 1970's lies a wonderful hotel called the Sand Castle. Recently (as in 12/16) bought ... Read more

We read about this on cruise compete and tripadvisor. We walked from the ship to the hotel. It took us about 15-20 minutes. The beach is actually very nice and we really enjoyed the relaxing day. The food and drinks were excellent. I would recommend the pistachio drink, as it was probably my favorite drink of the whole trip. The service at lunch though was very very slow. I read this before we went, and it was 100% true. Saying that though, I would return. This was the most relaxing day of our w... Read more

We visited Sand Castle on the Beach during our recent holiday cruise; it is an easy 20 minute walk from the cruise port. The beach is beautiful and quiet with plenty of chairs and umbrellas. There is also a bar and restaurant so it's easy to spend the entire day here. This ended up being one of our favorite stops on the cruise!

We love the west side of St. Croix. It is quiet and the beaches are wonderful. We stayed at Sandcastles for the first time. They are under new ownership and were wonderfully attentive to all our needs. The restaurant is not open every day, which was disappointing, but they promised that they were working towards it being open 7 days in the future. The rooms were kept immaculate. We had a room with a kitchen and loved having that as an option for various meals. Would definitely stay here again.

We just returned from a magical week on St. Croix at Sand Castle on the Beach. Our beachfront room was comfortable and nicely furnished, with a kitchen that allowed us to eat on our private deck if we wished. The hotel staff was always friendly and ready to make our stay the best it could possibly be. The beach is beautiful, with a view of the west shore from Frederiksted to Sandy Point with great snorkeling and breathtaking sunsets everyday. It's clear the new owners have brought a new leve... Sand Castle is a quick $5 shuttle from the pier. A $10 per person fee gets you a chaise, umbrella, and welcome rum punch. The beach is great for swimming and there is a restaurant and pool also. Good luck to new owners!

Went there for lunch and after 25 minutes of waiting at our table we still had yet to see a server. After going to find one I witnessed the kitchen staff making numerous mistakes with orders, including placing tomatoes on a sandwich to a table who specifically stated they were allergic to them. The response "just take them off." Not really what you want to hear when you wife has a nut allergy. Walked out and never ever going back. Views are beautiful though...

This was such a relaxing and wonderful hotel. Right on the beach, the water is clear and warm, snorkel right from your hotel room. Staff is nice and helpful and friendly. Restaurant food is good and bar staff are welcoming. They have nice details, like a book collection you can borrow from, and laundry machine you can use. We were very lucky and got upgraded to a room facing the beach - so amazing! We rented a car and mixed eating in Fredericksted, visiting Christiansted, and just staying on the... Read more

The lovely Irma welcomed us at the front desk. Our room was extremely clean and tastefully decorated. The pool deck and beach are prestine. Snorkeling right in front of the hotel is very exciting. The restaurant has a nice selection and everything we tried was delicious.

Going to give this place a 3.8 hinge rating (scale of 0-5) only based on our level of room. Based on seeing some of the other rooms ($Villa's$) I would have to give this place a 4.3 hinge rating. The place is older (refurbished in 2002) and was originally built by Randall McDonald who was a great admirer of the Frank Lloyd Wright's School back in Wisconsin. The environment and location is excellent with a fantastic beach, two nice swimming pool, more than adequate rooms and verandas. We are i... Read more
