"If there is a heaven on earth, it is here, it is here, it is here." That's the quote one sees from Charles Lindbergh in Hawaii near to the small church he's buried next to. Lindbergh was not entirely right - he had not been to Sand Castle on the Beach in Frederiksted, St. Croix, met with Ted and his associates who welcomed my urgent booking request without hesitation during the days following Hurricane Maria. Without hesitation, they booked my son in for the duration of his stay with warmth... Read more

This was our oasis in the midst of the disaster our friends and family had endured. We helped in the day and spent time relaxing during curfew. The guys Ted, Chris, Dylan, and Jackson were great with us. They endured quite the disasters with Irma and Maria to get their place ready for guests. They were communicative before we arrived and gave us the option of canceling the trip if we preferred. The generator was a godsend and so was their restaurant. I never took for granted there were others wh... Read more

My partner and I stayed at Sand Castles for a week in early August - we loved it. The beach is truly stunning (and I hope recovering from the hurricane). We opted for a smaller room at the front of the property, it had all of the features we needed for a weeks stay. Unfortunately there is a little bit of noise from the road but this stops mostly in the early evening so didn't interrupt out sleep. If this is a concern for you I'd recommend booking a room in the middle/front-beach side of the p... Read more

If you want to enjoy delicious and healthy food while watching the sunset over one of the best swimming beaches on the West End---this is your place. Family run and loved, these clean cheery cottages are a respite that will allow you to enjoy vacation, a base from which to explore St. Croix, and will not break the bank. Renovations are planned to add a larger entertainment area which will only add to the laid back vibe and well-kept premises. A friend and I were stuck in St. Croix for Hurrica... Read more

After the hurricane, we went to enjoy some time at the pool. We paid the day-pass fee ($10) and proceeded to have a lovely day. The restaurant staff was great and personable. There is another guy (he has to be a friend of the owners because there is no way that he would get a job based on his personality) who treated us like criminals. We returned for the rest of the weekend and enjoyed cooling off in the pool. This man was rude and abrupt. I admit, I brought a small cooler to fill with ice ... Read more

I am in awe of the miles of unspoiled soft sandy beaches of St Croix. The friendly restful Carribean seaport town of Fredricksted, at the western end of the island is being transformed. Age old Danish wharehouses and sugar shacks are being refurbished into charming farm/ocean to table restaurants and quaint storefronts. Just steps from a beach that reminds me of the unspoiled Southern California beaches from the 1970's lies a wonderful hotel called the Sand Castle. Recently (as in 12/16) bought ... Read more

We read about this on cruise compete and tripadvisor. We walked from the ship to the hotel. It took us about 15-20 minutes. The beach is actually very nice and we really enjoyed the relaxing day. The food and drinks were excellent. I would recommend the pistachio drink, as it was probably my favorite drink of the whole trip. The service at lunch though was very very slow. I read this before we went, and it was 100% true. Saying that though, I would return. This was the most relaxing day of our w... Read more

We visited Sand Castle on the Beach during our recent holiday cruise; it is an easy 20 minute walk from the cruise port. The beach is beautiful and quiet with plenty of chairs and umbrellas. There is also a bar and restaurant so it's easy to spend the entire day here. This ended up being one of our favorite stops on the cruise!

We love the west side of St. Croix. It is quiet and the beaches are wonderful. We stayed at Sandcastles for the first time. They are under new ownership and were wonderfully attentive to all our needs. The restaurant is not open every day, which was disappointing, but they promised that they were working towards it being open 7 days in the future. The rooms were kept immaculate. We had a room with a kitchen and loved having that as an option for various meals. Would definitely stay here again.
