Our first room had no wifi so we were moved. We then had problems with the wifi in the new room. We were told it was being sorted out but nothing changed. On our return to the hotel after an outing there was a new woman on reception. I asked if there was any wifi news and she smiled, inanely and without any sincerity whatsoever said 'I'm sorry we are having problems with the wifi someone is looking at it'. No empathy, no interest and it also seemed like no connection with reality. We were with... Read more

Stayed for a weekend break and was a bit worried when I read the reviews on here! Our welcome was spot on although there was a wedding reception in the reception area so quiet noisy. The corridor to the room is very chilly but not a problem as the room was warm, clean and a fair price. The hotel is right next to the Zoo if you fancy the visit. The restaurant was excellent best I‚??ve had in a long time really worth trying. This was our opinion, on the whole very good.

We stayed here for a wedding the hotel is hit and miss. Pros- nice bars, restaurants, scenery, spacious rooms. Lovely breakfast and lounges. Plenty of parking. Cons- The rooms are very dated, need renovation and modernisation.kettle did not work rooms slightly shabby. Corridors etc freezing! Overall ok stay if price was slightly cheaper. If the hotel was given a revamp would be lovely.

Booked the Marwell on line through Booking.com and received email confirmation. On arrival my booking could not be found, I showed my confirmation and was told it had been cancelled. I explained it couldn't have been me as I was standing there trying to check in. Staff were excellent and soon reinstated the booking at the original agreed rate. Room 316 was very clean and tidy, bathroom a little worn but still clean with good towels. Had a meal with Business colleagues who live in the area ... Read more

I stayed here for one night with my husband due to my sisters wedding being held hear the next morning. We paid £114 which included breakfast and this was booked way in advance. We were greeted nicely by a young lady who gave us our keys. Soon as I walked into the room I noticed the bed valance was not put on properly and had tea marks on it. Most importantly the room was so hot, around 30 degrees and that is no exaggeration as my sisters were with me and they strongly agreed. So we went bac... Read more

We attended a wedding here on Saturday. The room set up was fabulous, the food delicious and the staff superb & attentive. The DJ who acted as master of ceremonies was brilliant., I cannot fault any part of this. Unfortunately the overnight accommodation lets the hotel down, the room we had was very very dated. The toilet took forever to refill for the next flush, the hot tap took ages for anything to come out and the sink unit in a dated powder blue appeared to have had bleach tipped on it taki... Just returned from a night away (Sat 28th Oct). I can see that many previous guests had problems but I‚??m happy to say that we were lucky and enjoyed our stay and will probably return. We were in a Superior 3 bedded room (king and single) room 207. Ground floor, good views of grounds. Comfy beds and modern, spotless bathroom. Our 6-year old son loved the pool and the hot tub was working. I agree that the leisure area is in some need of updating but it suited us all for 2.5 hours on the Saturday... Read more

Nice weekend away. Got to the zoo early and was there all day. Checked in at 3pm. The reception was nice and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean, VERY comfy large bed!! Good size tv with sky. Nice shower and bath and shampoo, conditioner and shower gel were provided. Didn‚??t rate the spa one bit, rubbish sauna and had a warm tub, not hot tub. Changing rooms were small and smelly with hardly any room to get changed and no separate cubicles. Needs a major update. The bar/loung... Read more

We stayed here on 27th October for 1 night. The hotel looks like a woodland lodge, right opposite Marvell Zoo. Check in was easy, the member of staff friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and very clean. It look out onto woodland. We did not use the pool so couldn‚??t comment on this. The restaurant was clean and service very good. They had an Al a carte menu and a bar menu. If you wanted you could mix and match form either. I had a burger and my husband steak. The meals were a good siz... Read more

I have delayed reviewing this hotel for a few weeks to avoid being impulsively critical. There are a lot of things which are wrong however and which need to be addressed. When we arrived we were thirsty and went to the bar for a drink. We were asked 'would you like a glass?'....What sort of standard are they trying to set here? More reminiscent of a street café in an African town. Why is there not a prominent sign in the bar saying 'consumption of drinks from bottles is not permitted'? The mo... Read more
