I stopped here on business for two nights. The hotel is different to anywhere I've stayed before, there are cold corridors linking to different buildings, once you got out of the corridors the rooms were warm. The room itself was an Executive room which was nice, modern and quite large. The bathroom was nice apart from the water pressure which wasn't great. Sky TV in the room was a bonus and even included sports and movies. The bed was conformable although I think it was two singles joined ... Read more

We recently stayed as part of Groupon offer. Unfortunately due to the weather we never made it to the zoo but the hotel stay was very good. We were a bit concerned about taking our 14 month granddaughter but there were no issues, the baby was welcome everywhere in the hotel. The swimming pool was nice and warm and we were told we could take her to the dining room in thte evening. We ended up eating at the bar because we wanted to eat early. Complimentary Ella's kitchen baby food was a pleasant s... Read more

Writing this from bed in room 314. Biiig bed, no valance. Apparently the place was built in 1989, about time for some tidying up. Bath/sink taps are white plastic, probably the originals. Room is a good size with sliding patio doors which open onto a balcony running the length of the building, nothing to stop people strolling past your room window. Most of the rooms look out over woodland which is lovely. Room was clean and tidy when we arrived. We feel that at about £28.00 for two courses t... Read more

Took advantage of a deal with secret escapes and we were pleasantly surprised with the hotel. Check in was quick and efficient and the rooms were a good size with really comfortable beds. The only minor issue was the very cold corridors linking the accommodation and restaurant area 7 course taster menu was excellent but there were a lot of fish courses so if you don't like fish you've probably picked the wrong deal. Bar prices were reasonable, not over inflated like some hotels and the cocktai... Read more

We had a family room and stayed for 2 nights over the weekend with tickets for the Zoo on the Saturday included. The children especially enjoyed the swimming pool and the food was fantastic.....a great breakfast and some good menu choices in the evening (we only had the bar menu but it was excellent). The only negative was the room as it was a bit tired. The staff were great and our overall experience was very good.

Aside from the cold corridors (it felt like walking through a freezer) I can't complain about this trip. The hotel was lovely, the room was clean and of a very good size, even though we had an extra bed in there. The breakfast was lovely and the staff were really helpful and provided reasonable vegetarian and vegan options. We loved the hotel and would definitely recommend it!

Great venue to visit the zoo. Decor a tad tired - great Receptionist made you feel very welcomed. Housekeeping a tad tardy - a tissue and empty biscuit wrapper under bed from previous occupants indicated lack of attention. Recommend if you wish to eat at hotel (which I'd recommend) you book when booking your stay as it's very popular and we ended up eating quite late. Definitely would go back if revisiting the zoo as it's perfect place to stay due to its location. Also very unique environment.

Booked this as a surprise weekend away for my boyfriend and I. Stayed last weekend 21st Jan. On arrival at reception, we were stood in a queue waiting for the one receptionist to book us in. She was very patronising and her conversation was almost rehearsed. We then walked down the ice cold passageway to our room. The room itself was adequate but the old radiator in the corner that was turned up full whack was only luke warm... it was absolutely freezing!! We thought we would try out the spa f... Read more

We stayed at this hotel last weekend, because of a groupon deal which included zoo tickets. Everything was brilliant, particularly the hotel restaurant food- definitely a highlight!!! The service was perfect, the food was beautifully presented and I won't forget this experience for a long time- so thank you!! We spent the second night eating at the Fishers Pond pub down the road, which was also wonderful. Recommend it if you want a warm, cosy setting with a good choice on the menu, with attentiv... This is a truly confused hotel! Fantastic setting, right next door to Marwell Zoo. Reception area, etc are welcoming and very fitting with the surroundings. Perfect! Reception staff and bar staff friendly. Couldn't fault them. Passageway to my room was spotless. On entering my room, I was pleasantly surprised after reading other reviews. Massive bed, great sized room with a good sized telly. Then I had a look in the bathroom. This is where it goes down hill. Why oh why is there a 1980's bathroom... Read more
