It did not get off to a good start- on arrival I was struggling through the reception door with several cases and although I got eye contact with a member of staff he just walked past and offered no help. This hotel is essentially an attractive stately house used as a function venue with a prosaic functional business Hotel bolted onto the rear. The room I had was attractive but small. It did the job.The bar area is as soulless as an airport lounge with reasonable food of the type you would expec... Read more

No part of this romantic break was not under threat from this dreadful, dreadful hotel, only possitive is the way it looks. It is set in beautiful countryside and the ancient manner house is really handsome. The staff are rude and rushed. Rolling their eyes is the norm. You get the feeling they are sixth formers waiting for the shift to end and their party to start rather than professionals happy to help. R#k in the spa is rude and would not let us in at 7:17pm because it closes at 8pm (we wer... Read more

Checked into the hotel and we were allocated a room in Orchard Mews. Has to ask to be moved because the room wasn‚??t at all clean and clearly the previous occupant had had a dog with them. Windows dirty and something very nasty looking on the carpet. The second room was much better, but I don‚??t think the housekeeping staff can recognise a cobweb. Overall the hotel needs maintenance work. There are a lot of shabby areas with peeling paint and some ground works round and about needing atten... Read more

Very let down..... 1 person on reception checking in everyone. So that took 20min. Got given my room keys so with 2 large bags and a cabin case I made my way to my room, go to use the key card to find it does not work, back to reception I go, bags and all. Once there I asked about an upgrade, was told yes they had bigger rooms avalible. I said I shall see what my standard room was like. Back to my room I go. Opened the door I was hit with what I can only discribe as 1950's old smoke/ fag musty s... Read more

The hotel grounds are amazing and it is a great setting. The staff are all friendly and helpful. The room was clean however I have to be honest it was a bit shabby and in need of a refurb. The gym and spa were excellent. The food was really good, especially the breakfast. I would stay here again. The only thing that let it down was the room.

The Old Hall is a beautiful building and the grounds are amazing. We were put into a room in Woodlands (306). The room and bathroom were fine but there was a non-opening window which meant we had condensation in the morning - and a huge amount of mozzie bites (in November!) - think there must have been one in the room! We asked to change rooms and were given 510 - the same type of room but with opening window, which we much preferred. The buffet breakfast was excellent and our evening ... Read more

grounds and hall itself are very nice on arrival but that is probably the only time you will see them as this is ran like 2 seperate hotels each with there own reception, despite the grand looking hall ,chances are you will be staying at the more recentish buildings set back behind the main hall. this is where your restaurant and bar is (the main hall wouldn,t even let us order a drink in an empty bar at 7.30pm) . restaurant we were told to use was busy and only time slot was 9 pm but to be hone... Friendly helpful staff, comfortable room, good choice of meals, well presented spa and pool, lovely grounds. Had a relaxing couple of nights making full use of the facilities. Particularly enjoyed walking in the grounds and using the pool. Would definitely recommend for a short break if you are looking to relax and chill out.

Couldn't fault anything about the hotel, being picky, we were in a separate building with a few mins walk to the bar / restaurant but that made it all the better, the building was quiet, well furnished, it helped we got a complimentary upgrade to the privilege rooms! Very nice in there, going to be disappointed if I don't get an upgrade next month when I return, but luck of the draw. Staff were great, all very friendly and well spoken. Bar is good, nice selection at not overly inflated price... Read more
