As a University Sports Administrator (and freelance Journalist) I travel extensively around the United Kingdom, spending frequent long weekends staying in different types of hotel - some large, some small, some ancient and some modern. The Holiday Inn Express, located on a large industrial estate on the south side of Stoke-on-Trent, falls firmly into the category of "modern" and it's also clean, warm and comfortable, with attentive and helpful staff. My check-in was smooth and quick and my bed... Read more

Stopped over here for one night as it was closer for alton towers the next day, nice clean hotel and bar area, room was spotless and staff were very polite and friendly, advised us of a good place to eat as we had seen the reviews for the harvester next door and decided against eating there as they were pretty poor. Sadly around 3am some immature idiots decided to start running up and down the landing either drunk or off their box on drugs or probably both, when asked to keep the noise down as w... Read more

Asked for disabled access room. Was allocated room 302 on the third floor. Although spotlessly clean and comfortable I did wonder, in the event of an emergency, with lifts out of action, how does a wheelchair user get down three flights of stairs? Also, very disappointed with breakfast. No bacon, ever, rubber scrambled eggs, lukewarm beans and cardboard tasting sausages.

The hotel is clean and facilities are basic but decent. There are not too many other options nearby so the hotel is most useful for anyone visiting the Britannia Stadium across the road. Train station within ten minutes' driving.

A one night stay while visiting the area. A friendly welcome. A large, spacious and airy reception and bar. My 3rd floor room was very clean and had everything one would expect of a modern hotel. Harvester gastro pub next door was very good. Next door to that is Stoke City FC. A great location for an away fan or on non match days a good place to stay to explore the local area

Stayed overnight for an early morning meeting. This hotel was easy to find, parking was plentiful and the hotel itself was clean and very comfortable. Breakfast wasn't very good but I found something to eat. The staff were helpful. Would stay here again on business.

This is a hotel geared up for motorists. It's very inconvenient for pedestrians and users of public transport. The hotel is modern, clean, functional and characterless. Avoid match days (unless you're going yourself).

This is a modern site, with pleasant and helpful staff, a comfortable warm room and a good breakfast, all at a v competitive price. My only slightly negative comment was that, despite the AC unit being turned off overnight, I could still hear noises coming from it off and on. I assumed it was the sound of rain against some sort of vent on the roof. Not a big issue but it did disturb me a few times in the night.

Hotel is fully functional, hotel works well. Staff doing a solid job. Not quiet so bring your ear plugs. Not having a restaurant in the hotel (except for breakfast) means it lack any atmosphere. But the choices in the area are not great. The real problem are the food options. The Harvester next door is the only option in walking distance, the hotel is on a light industrial park. The Harvester is busy and serves pretty fast but the menu is terrible: seems like a hangover from the seventies. Foo... Read more

Wow what can I say for my boyfriends birthday we visited altona towers for the first time and let me just say it wasn't good at all. We didn't have a good day at all, so we decided to come to the hotel and when we first arrived we waited 5 min to check in and not Evan that the blond lady was really rude to us and I paid for a double bed and they turned around and day there's no doubles left I asked 3 times for a double room and all I get back was no there no more so we was stuck in a single bed ...
