Stayed here for a mix of business and pleasure. Had an early morning meeting on the IoW so stayed here with my colleague/friend to wander round the shops on arrival then a good HIE breakfast before our early start. Only the shopping lived up to expectations Room smelt heavily of horrid air fresheners on arrival- as if they were trying to hide something. However the room was clean. Shower was a unit with a curtain - certainly not what you expect with a decent hotel. However the biggest disa... Read more

This hotel is very well situated for tourist amenities. The hotel was clean and the breakfast sufficient (although the addition of bacon would be nice). The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Lots of restaurants very close by together with the retail outlet.

I saw this hotel built and now years later had the chance to stay for one night. The location is excellent and staff friendly and welcoming. The rooms though are getting tired and need a refresh. Breakfast was poor. The Hotel is not particularly cheap so only offering reconstituted egg, lukewarm sausage and watery beans is not good enough.

Stayed for one night in a small family room, ( 1 double, 1 sofa bed) Was more than suitable for our needs, looking a little tired in the bathroom but for 1 night who cares. The bed mattress for to soft for me but again 1 night no issue. Great location which we took full advantage of, car park is a bargain and not that far to walk as other's have said plus my wife had a chance to window shop en route haha. Breakfast basic but we all managed to fill ourselves up up until lunch time. Staff very ... Read more

This hotel is very conveniently located for both the tourist and business locations in Portsmouth. Another bonus is the proximity to the Harbour train station, as well as the ferries, so anyone travelling without a car can access it easily. The hotel entrance is a little strange, with the lobby overlooking a parking area (not sure if this belongs to the hotel, or the nearby apartment block). You have to go upstairs to the reception, meaning the ground floor lobby is open to all. Once you are ... Read more

This hotel is situated centrally in gunwharf quay. It is modern, clean & quiet. I had a very good nights sleep. Rooms were a reasonable size with a small couch which was nice so you aren't required to sit on the bed all the time. Hotel was very secure & required a key card to operate the lift. Staff were friendly. The only thing I would say is that the 'free' (I insert in brackets as nothing is ever really free) breakfasts could do with improvement . I came to breakfast at 9am & there was only... Read more

This hotel is all about location if you are visiting Gunwharf keys. It's right on your doorstep. But you pay a premium as the rooms aren't cheap. The car park is the main shopping centre car park and your ticket gets validated by reception so the first 24hrs is free and only £2 per day after. This is excellent as so many city hotels rip you off for parking. The room itself is a little dated. Quite a small bathroom so only one person can get ready at a time in there. But it's clean and tidy wit... Read more

Poor quality hotel with pleasant staff in a very good location. Rooms are shabby and cheaply furnished, small and badly designed. Air conditioning is so noisy had to sleep in the corridor on a trolley. Is this the NHS? Very poor value. Following two nights at half the price at the lovely Jurys Inn in the far better city of Southampton FC, Portsmouth is a toilet.

Turned up and were greeted by Becky on reception, who I have to say was friendly, helpful, polite and a credit to this hotel chain. The rooms are clean and what is expected from Holiday Inn, and the location is excellent.
