The hotel is absolutely stunning. Obviously with any old place could do with a lick of paint and some things fixing up but i didnt care it gave it an old fashioned feel. We had dinner and the food was beautiful and so cheap! We were in the balmoral suite. The bathroom.. WOW! Only 1 criticism was we heard everything from next foor (Kintyre) suite till 4am. The bed in theirs against the wall to our bed. A reshuffle would help. ALL staff were amazing and couldn't be nicer or help more. We will be b... Read more

Went with friends for the first time to this hotel and it was excellent from start to finish. The staff, food and accommodation were all 'first class' and the attention to detail, especially by William, who was in charge of the main meal, dance section was excellent. Will be back.

I live nearby and visited the restaurant for Christmas lunch. It was dreadful as the quality of the food was very poor. The starter was a lukewarm tiny tart. The main course of steak pie was slightly better as the meat and potatoes were edible. The vegetables were scant - 3 Brussels sprouts and 5 carrot batons which were tasteless. Dessert consisted of 4 tiny profiteroles with ice cream followed by lukewarm tea and a mince pie which came with no plate. I have previously only been to the hotel fo... Read more

Disclaimers: I was given the Lomond Suite, in the older part of the hotel; everything about the room relates to that specific room. There were no weddings going on so I can't comment about noise! That said... This is the best hotel I've been to all year (it's mid-December and I travel a few times a month) It is absolutely fantastic for the price, and has a lot of small extras that you'd associate with a much more expensive hotel. £65 for a room and a breakfast that is home-cooked from a m... As a last minute late check in, we choose to stay even after being informed that the hotel was hosting a wedding and noise may be an issue. Boy! was it ever! On returning to our room after dinner, the room was vibrating with very loud music directly below us. I mean, LOUD! To make a long story short, the manger moved our room, comped us sufficiently and did so in an incredibly professional manner. I cant say enough about how he dealt with our situation. Food and service were great, would stay ag... Read more

Attended a get together after a funeral recently and was VERY disappointed with this hotel. Based on how much it cost it was poor value. It was the normal sausage roll, chicken, finger sandwiches and cakes but I could have got better if I had bought most of the items from Iceland and Greggs! We could have had a meal elsewhere for what this cost.

I had a lovely stay at The Dalmeny country house hotel, my room with a 4 poster bed was lovely, the bed was huge and I had a much needed great nights sleep. Dinner was also good, salmon with veg, very reasonably priced at around ¬£9.00 . The staff were also lovely and helpful, the only thing that let the hotel down was breakfast, for a 4 star I expected more variety, I had a cooked Scottish which I can‚??t complain about it tasted hot and fresh but if you are a vegetarian there is not much for y... Had our wedding in this hotel 26 years ago so popped back on 3 Nov 2017 for one night and to see what's changed. Not a lot to be honest, still as beautiful as ever. The Kintyre Suite we stayed in had a four-poster bed and a Jacuzzi bath. Spacious and luxurious. If you look closely enough you will see faults within the building. For instance, old traditional windows crumbling around the edges. Yes a little worn in places but it only added to the charm and character of this wonderful building. F... Read more

This hotel holds up to its name - it seems to be built into some old manor/castle type building. I don't know the history of it, but it is very classical and picturesque. The rooms are comfy and the staff is nice - well worth a stay. Not super close to Glasgow, so you'll need a car.

Stayed here same time as wedding party and the guy who complained. We were in room 105 and we could hardly heat any noise and we had window open. The hotel was clean and comfortable. Some areas very 1970s but a lick of paint and different carpet and fixtures it would be fine. All the staff were helpful friendly and courteous. The bedroom was comfy with a nice deep bath. Gardens were well maintained and quaint my chiauhah loved exploring. This is a dog friendly hotel with no smell of dogs The bre... Read more
