We loved it. The views or the cathedral and the necropolis, the friendly staff. John was funny and charming. The room was adorable, airy and well equipped.the bathroom was gorgeous. Oh and try the cheesecake!

Chalk this one up to experience. I spent two nights at the Cathedral House Hotel in Glasgow and was thoroughly confused for most of my stay. It‚??s basically a music-themed bar with some dodgy rooms. Some nuggets of info: the hotel is in a quite gorgeous nineteenth-century turreted town house. Even on a rainy evening, you could see it had tonnes of character. The hotel is right by the cathedral. The famed Glasgow Necropolis is within spitting distance with its towers and gravestones. Unfortunat... Read more

Was in the middle of taking a walking tour and stopped in the Cathedral House Hotel for bite to eat. Hard to come across a good burger in Europe coming from America, but this place made it to top of the list. The home made pizza rocks. The best part is the menus are written on old album covers. Love it.

A good location which was 20mins walk from station. I climbed over 50 steps to the turret room number 6. At £100 a night the room was the shabbiest I've seen with strange furniture daubed in white matt paint. The room was very hot. At least the shower was OK and shower gel was provided. I turned up for the limited continental breakfast and was offered neither tea nor coffee. I think £50 a night would have been enough for the stay. Looks like a failing hotel to me without funds to refurbish w... Read more

As with other reviews, it is run on the cheap. Eventually, the reviews will cause the hotel issues - it's a shame because it is historic but the owners/landlords whoever are relying on that to keep the prices up but it is little better than a hostel. No reception area (check in/out at the bar). The continental breakfast is cheap and the shower in room 4 (and others) is the absolute cheapest model about - another review said the same about it. It is laughable to put such a cheapo shower in an... Read more

Stayed the night after dropping my daughter off at Uni. Got it for £50 on LateRooms so a bargain. Stayed in the Turret room (no.6) on the top floor. Fine by me but lots of spiral steps (only top two sets carpeted) so may not suit someone disabled/elderly. The radiator pipes were noisy but I always pack ear plugs. The top floor is supposed to be haunted by little children laughing but no chance of hearing them above the pipes. Shower temperature fluctuates and can get very hot. Bar is good with ... Read more

Quirky building, 8 bedrooms (I think) with a bar downstairs. Staff were wonderful but the rooms were shabby and in dire need of a makeover. We had rooms 1 & 5. Room 5 had no hairdryer, no Lightbulb in the sidelight, no working light in the bathroom. I couldn't get the TV to work. Room 1 was marginally better in that it did have a mirror and hairdryer and was less noisy. I had an early interview at the Infirmary so the location was perfect and rooms we very clean. However if you want a touch of c... Read more

One night stay in Glasgow, hotel opposite the Glasgow Cathedral. There is a small car park too which is a bonus. Staff couldn't have been friendlier, location good for town centre, ok there are a few stairs to climb to the rooms...but heck it's an old building! Room was basic but fine for a nights stay, there was live music in the bar when we arrived and the guy playing guitar, singing then the piano. Really good. Breakfast in the morning was good plenty of options to pick from. Would defini... Read more

Our two twin rooms were shabby and depressing with paintwork coming off the bedside tables. The sash window in one of the rooms wouldn't close. The whole ambience was 'grim'. To reach our rooms we went up three flights of spiral stairs, two of which are concreted. We decided to check out immediately and explained our views to the manager. He said that I was the first person to have made these comments about the website being 'misleading'. My payment had already been taken and he offered me ... Read more

the website shows you pictures of 2 rooms which look really nice, they don't show the other rooms because they badly need updating, plain, tired, do not represent the website or the price compared to other hotels, also the view was not of the necropolis or the cathedral as advertised but of the roof of the building (turret room).... however, they were clean (except from the velux window which was really dirty on the outside)and all the staff were very helpful, the food was ok and the bar was a n...
