Stayed overnight on my way to a meeting in Riccarton. Location is very convenient for Haymarket Station and the Airport via tram. The room I stayed in was very quiet as it was to the rear of the building. All basic amenities included. The decor was interesting with a collection of semu antique furniture and thick velvet curtains. Did not try the breakfast slbeit was included in the rate. I'll proobably stay here again!

Stayed here on Friday night . Staff are pleasant. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. It is dated but if youâ??re just looking for a room for the night itâ??s fine. The shower is just a dribble. Very good location though. 2 minutes walk to the train station.

We were having a family weekend in Edinburgh. About 80% of Edinburgh was already booked. So we thought we'd take the chance with the 3 star Ritz as the pictures looked Quirky. On entering the reception we were taking back in time to the capital's best. I'm just not sure in this day and age a quirky looking room is enough. The kettle and phone from the 80s. The bathroom sinks sealant was hanging off from wall. 1 of bathroom lights was broken. The level of dust above eye level shocking. One... Read more

We always come here, I don't see why people are complaining.....there's a bed, hot water, wardrobes drawers, tea coffee facilities and gets cleaned every day, what more to you want??....the building itself is Victorian style with very nice clean rooms, breakfast is great..this hotel gives u a homely feel, We love it and will keep coming every year.

My heavens I think I have read bad reviews about a different hotel, this hotel is fabulous, all staff are friendly the hotel is spotlessly clean and rooms cleaned every day, the continental breakfast is superb. The location is excellent so near to the Haymarket train station and a short walk from all the shops and different areas of Edinburgh. When I read the bad reviews I was fuming - I have stayed here for 7 years now, if you pay the Hilton Prices then you would have a reason to complain but... Read more

Stayed here over a long weekend for a friend's wedding due to its reasonable pricing and location. The hotel is dated but its vintage style someone works for this quaint hotel. Imagine canvas 4 poster beds and lots of doilies. Considering we were out all day, it was a great place to rest our heads - so we can't complain. Stayed March 2012 (sorry for the late review).

Looking out our bedroom window you can see the Hilton opposite, and I think to myself: should we just check out and move over the road instead! Anyway, the best thing I can say is the place has character, the rest if it just ordinary. Certainly not the value for money I desired. Oh well, it served a purpose, but the most uncomfortable bed I've ever had.

Stayed here one night while in Edinburgh for a gig. On arrival the stench of dirty wet dog in the reception area was revolting. The smells throughout the hotel were unpleasant. This place isn't period, quirky or boutique, it's an embarrassment to Scottish hospitality. Hotels can be traditional whilst still being clean and serviceable. The curtains didn't even close in our room. There was a thick layer of dust on the four poster frame, carpets coming away from the edges, the bed was appalling, th... Read more

We only needed a place to stay for the night. We had a late check-in (10pm). All we needed was comfy bed and hot shower. None of that happened. The room was past being"dated", it was sad and shabby. There was no sheet on the bed, only the duvet. And the mattress was disgusting. We actually called the Hilton but they didn't have the kind of room we needed. The staff were friendly enough, that's why I rated it a "1" because Zero wasn't an option.
