We stayed at the Salisbury green hotel on Saturday night. The building is lovely. The staff at the main reception very helpful and friendly. Few metre walk to the hotel itself. Lovely room however toilet very low. Good location for the centre of Edinburgh

Excellent hotel and food. Room great. One ginger-ish bearded man working at checkout at 7:30pm on 6/02/17, incredibly rude to young men returning squash key. They held the door open for us and kindly asked to return the key as they were in a rush. He needs to learn some customer service. Overall good stay but he set a very bad first impression of staff, who, aside from him were lovely.

About a 15 minute walk from the city centre lies this castle like hotel. The hotel lies on a university campus and check in is actually in another nearby building. It is an historic building which, both from the outside and inside, loos very impressive. Rooms are clean and specious. Breakfast is good. Instead of making your way directly to the city centre you should try and turn right and discover nearby Holyrood Park. We loved staying here

We stayed at Salisbury Green to celebrate our first Hogmanay. The room wasn't cheap, but that is to be expect when you're staying during the busiest days of the year (New Year's Eve). The room was comfortable with a descent bathroom (no bath though). The staff was helpful and the breakfast enjoyable. The location was fine, although I would have preferred a stay closer to the center of the city. However, there are frequent busses to the city center and it's just a 20 minute walk from the hotel to... Read more

Probably the poorest accommodation we have ever experienced at every single possible stage. - The room was already expensive: £375 for two nights - On check-in and already startled to find that the 'hotel' was not what we expected, we were told an extra £40 for double occupancy for the double room we booked would have to be paid, which was blamed on the booking website we used. No contact had been made with us to clarify the booking (again - double room) instead of holding us to ransom when ... Read more

This place does the job and the staff are very good. A lot can be forgiven when you have helpful, friendly attentive staff! We wanted a budget place to enjoy Hogmanay in Edinburgh so we didn't expect a great deal. The room was reasonably comfortable and clean with a good sized bathroom, including double shower. The main issue was the heating. At first it wasn't working and then it started blasting out. We'd already been sent up an oil heater so half way through the night we were cooking! Breakfa... We chose this hotel because it appears like a castle in the picture. It turned out that we don't feel like in a castle while living inside. But that's ok. The breakfast offered contains cooked hot food, fruits and nice drinks. Staff is very helpful. The nearest bus stop is only a few steps away. It's convenient to go to the city for the Royal Mile. Taxi drivers do not seem to know this hotel. The room is clean and warm in winter. Network is fast. I guess the Wi-fi is offered by the Univers... Read more

Stayed here at the weekend with my partner for a pre-Christmas get away and for the Christmas market. Arrived and it was pretty easy to get to and looks lovely from the outside. Tried to get into hotel but was told had to go to a different location to check in (wasn't far but a faff when carrying bags and cases) We checked in had to drive around a bit to find a parking space but parking free for the whole weekend which was good. We were on the top floor of the hotel, the room was clean and spa... Read more

Having read previous reviews we were a bit trepidatious about our stay but they could not have been more unfounded. Check in whilst in Masson house was efficient, parking was available for our hire car you get a free permit at the gate when arriving, the room was very nice and had period features like the rest of the building. The room was also spotless with a great bathroom and shower. Breakfast was very substantial. We will be back.

On arrival don't be confused by going onto the University campus the hotel is situated on the edge of the student accommodation blocks. The hotel is lovely it isn't suitable for anyone anyone who has difficulty getting upstairs as there is no lift and is covered over 3 floors. I booked a double room for myself & my husband and found a king size bed + single bed, wardrobe & desk with chairs & complimentary drinks tray, there was also a safe, iron, ironing board & trouser press in the room along w...
