I had a one night stay travelling on my own and would definitely recommend; this was a last minute booking and was an excellent price. The receptionist was lovely - helpful and friendly. My room was very clean and although a small single room was perfectly ok for my needs. Location is great; five mins walk away from Hoole Village which has pubs, shops and eating places galore or a £5 taxi (1m) from the city centre. Breakfast was swiftly served -there was a choice of cereal, fruit juice... Read more

Second visit & was disappointed with the annex room we got. Even though they seemed clean & bedding & towels were of good quality the rooms are showing signs of age. Walls are paper thin & I could hear neighbours talking. Still saying that the staff are friendly & breakfast is good & the car park is nice & big. I could only give it 3 * this time due to the annex rooms because I felt they are not as nice as the rooms inside the hotel. I would return but would insist on rooms inside & not out.. We... We normally pay more to stay in quite high end hotels and this reminded us that you get what you pay for ! Plusses - breakfast ŵell cooked, quick and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Tea and coffee supplies in the room are excellent - hard to use it all up. Location is great for the station and road access, and very good selection of restaurants in walking distance. wifi works. Parking available and sufficient for all. Enough hangers for a long weekend trip. Cons - Bed (room 17) both h... Read more

Receptionist was very welcoming. The room at the front of the hotel was spacious and clean with good facilities. A little noise from the road but not too bad. Had an early night due to and early start. Was woken at 10.40 by the fire alarm going off. Waited outside for around 20 minutes for the all clear. Went back to bed and then was disturbed by the fire brigade arriving. If you can avoid the fire alarm it is a good place to stay.

Stayed two nights and had a courtyard room, very comfortable and clean, good tea making facilities, bathroom had a musty smell. Shower noisy but strong flow and good temperature control. Breakfast good, shame no porridge sachets. There is a church across the road and bells chime every fifteen mins, fortunately they are turned off around 10pm and then on again around 7 am, good alarm clock! Good free parking, on a bus route walk into Chester takes around twenty mins. Excellent Chinese restauran... Read more

Stayed at Chester Court for 2 nights having booked 3 .We were in the annex at the back of the hotel in room 11. On arrival the there was a very strong smell of bleach ,similar to the public baths but this disappeared as time went on.The room was very small for a double with a narrow space to hang your clothes up (an old boiler cupboard without the boiler). The room was dated and after the bleachy smell disappeared became quite musty. The toilet ,shower room was tiny and when we arrived ,had no s... Read more

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome, our room was a good size, and clean, the beds very comfy, the bathroom was a bit dated and the door wouldn't close unless you bolted it from the inside. Also a couple of cracked windows, hence not given a 5 but still fine, lovely clean white towels, toiletries provided, tea/coffee/hot chocolate and biscuits provided in the room. Only a small window would open which was ok but in the summer wouldn't really be enough. Plenty of choice at br... Read more

We booked two nights in a twin room at a very reasonable price. The beds were comfortable and room and ensuite shower clean and well maintained. Plenty of choice for breakfasts. Only thing I would recommend is a choice of herbal teabags for the rooms and veggie options for cooked breakfast

We booked this hotel after searching the internet and were not disappointed, only there for one night before travelling on to Blackpool. There was an excellent pub within walking distance so we were able to get a meal easily. We had room 15 (attic room!) a twin room which was extremely comfortable and immaculately clean. We would have given five stars but for a few 'issues' with the bathroom which were reported to reception. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, the breakfast was very good... Read more

Once again the Chester Court came up trumps, the staff are fantastic and always happy to help. We requested and received a courtyard room which was welcoming and nice and warm! Plenty of room for us two and enough tea, coffee and biscuits.....bed was very comfortable as well which is always a bonus!!! breakfast was absolutely superb, plenty of choice with fresh juice, cereal, fruit and yoghurt as well as a choice of freshly cooked breakfasts.
