Very nice hotel. The location is great, just 5 minutes downhill from Blue Mosque. They gave us the best room, last floor (no elevator though) with a terrace with a beautiful view on Marmara sea. The only issue of our room was the cold bathroom and the bath water coming and going from time to time. The rest was perfect.

A nice quiet hotel located in small street 15-20 minutes walk from Sultanahmet Tram Station. Good location but it's not ok if you have big luggages as the rough streets and you have to walk up & down hills. Breakfast is ok. They serve Turkish style breakfast buffet (cheeses, bread, jams, olive pickles, broiled eggs, sausage, yogurts, etc.). The hotel is quite old. You'll feel like you are in 1970-1980. But don't worry, it's not haunting. Everything is clean. All equipments have good maintenance.... Read more

I stayed at the Ayasofya Hotel for the second time in July. It was great to stay in such a comfortable place - the beds and even the pillows were wonderful. The room was super clean and the air conditioning worked perfectly. We could walk everywhere and easily hop on the tram. The hotel is very close to the old district's main sights. It is on a pretty street in a quiet neighborhood. The breakfast every morning is more than adequate and delightful. Gaye and Greg are very helpful regarding restau... Read more

I had stayed here 12 years ago and this time around the Ayasofya was even more charming than before. A truly enchanting place to stay in Sultanahmet, the Ayasofya is within easy walking distance of the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia, Topkapi Palace, the Grand Bazaar, and the tram. Gaye and Greg are wonderful, friendly hosts and very knowledgeable about restaurants, shops, and other places to visit in Istanbul. I appreciated their attention to detail, from our shuttle rides to and from the hotel, the c... Read more

While we didn't see Gaye much, we spoke with Greg every morning at breakfast and he was very helpful and informative about things to do in the city. The room was quite nice for the price and had a very cool Ottoman vibe. Also the hotel was very conveniently located, within walking distance of the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. Breakfast wasn't amazing but other than that it was a very pleasant experience.

What a wonderful place. The hotel is an historic Ottoman home so the experience is truly authentic while the staff welcome you like it's their own home. Gaye and Greg (both Australians) are the perfect hosts, always there and welcoming, with an apple tea and travel tip or hint to set you on the right path for great days of sightseeing. The breakfast buffet is a great start to the day and drinks on the rooftop balcony is a great way to end the day. In between breakfast and after dinner drinks you... Read more

We stayed at Ayasofya Hotel very recently and it was a very good base amidst all the other excitement and activity of Istanbul and Turkey. It is a cozyl 21 room boutique hotel, very nicely located a short walk from the Hippodrome area within historic Sultanahmet and close to the tramway public transport. Aussie hosts Gaye, Greg and the crew there create a 'you-are-welcome' and 'home-away-from-home' type of atmosphere .. for us, helping with both local and regional travel tips and arrangements. ... This is a great hotel situated in the perfect position for all excursions into Istanbul's Old City- everything is walking distance (although it is also tucked away from the noise!) The city has such a great transport system you can get anywhere from anywhere- so if you want to experience the roots of Istanbul look no further for a hotel. We arrived very early at the airport and even though check-in was much later in the day, the friendly staff let us into our room! Gaye is simple amazing- sh... Read more

Terrible experience trying to rectify a situation. Was advised by Craig to call the agency I booked through to fix the issue and was charged before even getting the chance to do so which was terribly rude and inconsiderate, anything to make a quick dollar it appears! Thanks Craig!
