Ahhh well. The 12 hours of hell started when we arrived at the pier for pickup by the baan mai boat. Since we already had a very long day of travel we were very exhausted, after dragging our suitcases to the end of the pier and waiting almost 2 hours for the boat me and my wife were ready to book another hotel before we had even made it to the resort. I tried calling the resort phone on the website half a dozen times in this 2 hours and sent 2 emails. After asking several locals where the boat ... Read more

Baan Mai cottages is so magnificent for lovers of lots of green and peace & call. If thats what you want, it is second to none. Has a very original pool surrounded with Palm trees and you will constantly hear tropical birds tweets. However although the beach is lovely, sea is full of stones. Not a comfortable swim therefore. Cons is food is very expensive and there ara no other places to eat. We stayed there for two days (2 adults, 2 kids) and for 2 lunches & 2 dinners and occasional soft drinks... Read more

Cons Waited 3 hours for room at check in No hot water in room or at all during stay Wrong rooms given at check in Room was in the middle of a building site Unpleasant staff No booking system (a couple was turned away and refunded in full by Expedia) Food is overpriced - wanted THB2900 per person for a new years eve dinner...the party was over before 12 as they were counting down before 10pm. Drinks are overpriced Not a swimming beach due to coral/scorpion fish habitation.A guest was hospitalized... Read more

This is a family-run business and I suspect that they have done things this way for a generation or more and have failed to keep up with modern expectations of a resort hotel as they do not offer a product which matches their prices. Be warned that there is no pier at Baan Mai so you have to jump out of the boat and wade ashore. I have no problem with this but had we known, we would have dressed appropriately. Luggage is not covered on the long-tail so if the wind gets up, the bags at the front ... Read more

We had difficulty to contact the owner 2 days before our arrival just to learn that the villa we booked 3 months in advance was not available, as it was double booked. we decided to go on the island as we already had the air tickets and we could not find any suitable solution on the island resort. We had all the difficulty to book in another place 2 days from Xmas and will keep this experience booking at Baan Mai as the worse we had in Thailand.

We booked to stay at Baan Mai from Christmas Eve until Boxing Day, thinking it would a nice romantic location to spend Christmas. The cottages are located on a small island called Koh Lone, just 10-15 minutes in a boat from Chalong Pier. There is a free boat which is run by the cottage owners but the times for this are restricted and I would make sure you're always earlier than the timetable states - we were told that there was a boat at noon and so arrived at the pier at 11:40. I'm glad we wer... Read more

I didnt have the chance to stay here but i think other patrons ought to know, i had a reservation with this resort for a week prior to my visit and was made aware that a room would not be there for me only 5 hours prior to my arrival. This is information I could have used to make a reservation for new years night before availability is gone everywhere else. Not a good way to begin my stay in phuket. I would hope this is a push for better communication.

Be careful ! this is a very dangerous place! on this hotel works crooks! there have been several nasty cases. 1) we paid for food 10$ ,but the Manager of the hotel tried to charge money 4 times for a total amount of $ 3,000 ! when the manage tried to do this ,we already wasn't in the hotel and she know that we was on the way to another place after this hotel! The managers of the hotel are Scams! Thanks to the Bank ,that blocked the card on time. 2)at this hotel steal! Was stolen camera ,wall... Read more

Let me start with positives as there are many but also many negatives during our 3 night stay. (Booked for 8 nights) Dinner - the very best we had in 3 weeks of Thailand. Menu (food and drinks) is long as your arm, served perfectly in everyway. Cost no more than a 'normal' hotel. Location - wonderful peaceful island, lovely views when on the beach of the sea, sunsets and forests. Staff - well only Mel really (who welcomes you to the island, books you in and shows you the room...etc...and speaks... Read more

Located at lone island , we took a boat from chalong pier . We encountered very heavy rains that day , as a result of which our trip to the Island was quite an eventful one , and thanks to the expert oarsman , we reached the other side safely , albeit soaked ! The villa we stayed in had 3 bed rooms , a big living room , a small kitchen and 2 bathrooms , one of which was open to the sky . Most of the cottages are facing the sea , and surrounded by thick dense forests . Hospitality was excellent .... Read more
