As others have said previously the outside is very impressive! The reception area is also quite grand! The staff on check in were friendly and helpful. The rooms are starting to look quite dated but are always clean with fresh bedding/towels. You cant really complain for the price! Location is a bit of a walk but then it gives you the chance to see some other bars etc. on the way. There is also a 7Eleven right near the hotel entrance which is handy! We also used the dry cleaning service as we we... Read more

Upon arrival at the Royal Panerai Hotel, we were excited/relieved at how nice our last minute booking was: grand-looking exterior, a small pond in the front, a proper lobby, etc. However the room itself was really dated and not very nice - towels had ragged ends, bedsheets seemed clean but old, toilet was old (ie. yellow-y patches on the seat), a couple of mosquitos flying around here and there. We didn't have a terrible stay but I wouldn't choose to stay here again as there are better options ... Read more

This hotel is good value for money, only costs around £14 GBP for the night. No breakfast provided but it's a very short walk into the old town and there are plenty of cafes/restaurants near by. Not far either to the night markets. The rooms were nice, however the hotel doesn't have much else to offer. Perfect for budget travelling!

A week at the Royal Panerai was reasonable, but that was mostly on the financial front. It was inexpensive, but felt a bit out of the way from the old city in Chiang Mai. Luckily, there was a couple of restaurants and a decent bar nearby. Getting to the old city gate (Thapae Road) was about a 15 minute walk or so.

We booked the hotel because of the positive reviews, but were disappointed. The room furniture is ourdated, many mosquitoes in the room, especially the bathroom & not centrally located. It is just outside the old town. My sister had to change her room becoz of mosquitoes! Very drabby dark rooms. Some staff at reception don't speak much English. The WiFi comes on & off. We' d recommend hotels in the old town becoz of competitive prices, location & nearby facilities. It's best to avoid this hotel

A reasonable price for a big and clean room. Strong wifi signal. Located on the main road, easy access to transportation and within a walkable distance to Tapae Gate and Chang Puak Gate. 7-11 is just next door

Booked this hotel because saw reasonably good ratings on Traveloka.com. Really not a great hotel, not very clean or even a good location but had a decent night's sleep despite the noise from what was pbly a compressor outside my room on the 3rd floor. Just lucky I guess! Front desk had several friendly personnel (of the 3rd sex). Not close to anything really except for Miguel's Mexican Cafe, which was a great find. Old city about a 12-15 minute walk and a straight shot to Doi Suthep if you are ... Read more

Good location close to the old town square. Tourism agent working next to the reception who we booked our elephant tours / private taxis (for really cheap) from. Arrived early and knackered from long overnight train (which we didn't get any sleep on) but the hotel would not let us use the room until just before "official" check in time (1400pm), so was a bit tough trying to explore /waiting around without having had any sleep. Breakfast not included. Few interesting bugs around - tended to fin... Read more
