I had spent few weeks in Seychelles and just returned from Silhuette Island. As a long time and loyal HH member (also Golden Circle Diamond and Intercontinental Ambassador) I was going to give the Allamanda a try just to test the last Hilton on Mahe, one I had not stayed in after repeat visits to the island archipelago. It was my last 2 nights prior departure. I do not like to stay on Mahe Island as it is notorious for lethargic island staff , bad service and all the other stuff that goes along...
I do not like to stay on Mahe Island as it is notorious for lethargic island staff , bad service and all the other stuff that goes along when certain people are close to unfireable. I have little tolerance for the latter. Upon check-in two young lovely ladies assisted me. I believe both were trainees, one from Seychelles, the other from Russia. They were very courteous, however, did not recognize my Hilton Status and I had to ask them to look into the matter proactively and proactively explain about the automatic upgrade I receive including free breakfast. Consequently I had to wait about 15-20 min for a Deluxe Oceanfront Room to be set up. In retrospect I have to appreciate the friendly service, something I never got in Hilton Northholme. Ironically, despite the downgrade in general to 4star as well as lower price range compared to Northholm or Labriz, this hotel remarkably beats Hilton Northholm in terms of customer service. .....Not to say everything went smooth. Once my room was finally ready, my hotel safe was not working, I had technicians in my hotel room for 30 minutes before this was recitified. I have reservations about some of the local front desk staff in this hotel. I can see how people have issues there with bit rough service. Restaurant: the head chef from South Africa is very forthcoming. Definitely an uplifting character, who tries to accomodate your specific dietary needs ( in my case gluten-free bread). No complaints. There is Nepali service personnel, which is on top of all. and very helpful and FAST. Again, you will encounter some issues with other staff members. If they are imported , great, if not , good luck..hit or miss.... . Still better than Hilton Northholme where I once spent an unforgettable ENTIRE HOUR -waiting for 2 cocktails at their beautiful restaurant/bar. .. as the only 2 customers in the entire place. Yes, it was that bad..... In the evening, housekeeping lady kindly brought me vinegar to help me ease my sun burn (after I requested) , so all in all, more positives than negatives. I do believe the restaurant area (chair cushions) need refurbishing, updating and the buffet more island dishes. ... Coming from a place like Hilton Labriz, this was a tough one to transition into, however, I did enjoy the solitude of the beach and surprisingly the pool area was quite lovely. As a more budget-friendly location I find it recommendable. It is not 5 star by all means. If you are looking for nightlife/action, not so much. As for me , it was perfect to sit back relax, enjoy my last few days on the island without much hassle. Front desk staff needs to be re- trained for check-in of HH Gold/Diamond members, but again, the two young ladies were lovely and helpful, at least not rude like others. Noteworthy: I had more black flies in my room, despite closing doors, curtains, here than in the Natural Park on Silhuette ,where Hilton Labriz is situated. Nobody informed me verbally about the sea urchins in the water at this location. It is mentioned in the disclaimer you sign, but frankly... I didn't read it. Would be a great idea to VERBALLY advise the new checkins what is going on out there along your beach, to avoid people getting hurt unnecessarily. Many foreigners don't even read English well, lest to say, will take the time to read the entire pages.... Just food for thought. All in all, I did have a pleasant stay. I do recommend this hotel, if you are on a budget, look for tranquil beaches, calm water and a beautiful pool with a nice view over the bay.
