We spent 7 nights at hotel do carmo, the location was good, near the old town, restaurants and shopping, yet on a quieter street. The included breakfast was nice with quite a few options. Rooms are a decent size, we got a balcony which was nice. The only thing that wasn't great was that edges (moldings & floor corners) were pretty grubby. Beds a bit hard, but ok. Desk staff friendly & helpful. We rented a car & a parking space was provided across the street for 6 euro/day. (Request in advance... Read more

This is a nice hotel in a great location. The best bits are the roof top pool area which is very peaceful, with spectacular views, and the charming, helpful staff. When i got home I realised I had left a make-up bag in my room. I contacted the hotel and they were great. They packaged it up really well and posted it on to me. It arrived with nothing missing or damaged. Very happy! Would definitely return if i was in Funchal again.

hotel staff very polite, nice continental breakfast plenty to eat and plenty of variety, bedrooms were cleaned every day five minute stroll to sea front all in all a good hotel, one minor negative point would be the internal decorating need a slight updateing, good value for money hotel

A good location just on the edge of Fuchal (less than 5 mins walking to the main attractions) with themed rooms, friendly staff and all good except the notice at the breakfast buffet "all food here must be consumed here" (i.e. no making packed lunches and sneaking them out..!-)

We visit there for a week Dec 20-27. The weather is still warm with 18-21C not like in Denmark 3-6C . Champagne as welcome drinks and the receptionist Carlos and Tania are very nice. We tried the pool and never again lol the water is soooo cold lol but at night we had the perfect view night light of the city from the roof top. If you like sea food then Funchal is the right place to go :)

We stayed in a room with a balcony at the topfloor. The room was comfortable, but a bit small. However, having the balcony helped a lot. The breakfast which was included in the price was ok, but nothing special, and the wireless connection appeared fast and stabile. The staff was very friendly, and both the hotel and room was clean. We did not try the pool.

We stayed for a week at the end of October and found the staff to be very helpful. Our room was very small despite having a balcony but it was clean and sheets etc changed every day. Breakfast gave a wide choice and was good. The pool on top was a great place to chill out but only at the weekend as roadworks outside were very noisy during the day. Good price, good service.

We stayed at the Do Carmo primarily because it was centrally located. Near the old and new towns with a supermarket and pharmacy very close by. A welcome reception with champagne by the staff. Each room is themed so we slept with Sophie Loren. We were on the third floor and I would suggest going higher if possible. No air conditioning but the large fan kept us cool. Good sized bed but with a headboard that was rather uncomfortable. Very clean bathroom and sheets and towels changed everyday. Good... Read more
