Just stayed here for a week and overall a decent stay. On arrival given a little glass of bubbly which I thought was nice touch. Staff very helpful at reception. Room itself very clean. Obviously 60s theme going on. I did read a few reviews which said hotel could do with an update which I sort of understood but for me it was fine. If I had one criticism, it would be that walls were pretty thin ie someone above us and I could hear their mobile ringing and them moving around. Now if you want to st... Read more

We stayed at the do Carmo for 4 nights at the end of October on a B&B basis. No, itā??s not the Ritz, but you donā??t pay Ritz prices. The room we had was spotless, the Continental breakfast more than adequate and the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a great location for exploring the old town and has a restful ambience. There is a small, rooftop pool, which we did not use but it had great views of the city. I do not hesitate in recommending this hotel for a great valu... Read more

3 star it may be but all good reviews i read on this hotel are correct. The location is excellent being close to all amenities. New and old towns. Seafront promenade is a 5 minute walk away as is Monte cable car station.60's themed Rooms may be slightly ageing but are perfectly ok. Great beds, bathroom and good TV with english channels. The Hotel has a gorgeous small rooftop pool with sunbathing area. On floor5 there is also a lovely terrace with some very romantic private booths. Romeos take ... Read more

From the maps it looks a little way out tucked in the back streets but in reality it's only 400m from the start of old town so a lot closer than it seems. And it really is a great location. The 'old town' is where all the quaint alleys and picture-painted doors are to be found, and an abundance of restaurants too. The hotel? Well yes, most of the other reviewers are all correct even the 'poor' ones. It doesn't have air-con, there are no tea and coffee making facilities, there's no luxury bat... Read more

I have book double room during my stay. They have allocate me in twin room, beds wasn't zip they just been join together. Bathroom condition was really bad on silink you was able to see dump and they provide you one shampoo and one soup. Inside hotel really nice as it's a bit old fashion something from 60's big plus for garden and swimming pool. Breakfast was really nice and reception at the time of check in. My stay wasn't that but but rooms really need some updates as they craying for it... Read more

A great location in Funcal town centre, close to all Funcal attractions (Prom, market, old town, cable cars) in a quiet back street. Also close to bus staion/stops for trips out of town. I stayed for a week 30th Oct - 6th Nov . Pool area was nice with great views and plenty of sunbeds. As well as a sun terrace with beds and comfy chairs. Staff were friendly. I only eat breakfast in the hotel which had a good selection of breads and juices, but they also did eve meals and snacks. My room had a b... Read more

I stayed here for 2 nights and really liked this hotel. I wasn't expecting a luxury stay, this is a 3* hotel, but it was much nicer than 3* suggests. It's a modern hotel on a quiet side street, only a few minutes walk from the central area of the city, the main tourist sites and the seafront. Staff are lovely, very friendly and helpful. The decor is good and each room has a fun Hollywood movie theme. Rooms are quiet and clean, and beds comfy. Rooms at the front have balconies but not much of a v... Read more

Stayed in this hotel for one night while on holidays in madeira , its very well located for exploring funchal specially close to the old town . The hotel has a nice outdoor area great for a drink when its hot , also the roof got an outdoor pool with beautiful views over funchal and the port . The staff was friendly and had a decent breakfast . Being a three star hotel its ok but the room and specially the bathroom and shower need a bit of updating .

I booked this hotel for one week. It is a 3* hotel and comparing to this, I think it is a good hotel. I had some difficulties to rate it 3 of 4. But decided to give it 4, because of the location, the sun terrace where you can enjoy the sun all day. The breakfast was better than expected. Cons was the dining room which is very very dark and boring and the hotel etc quite dark inside. The room was ok, but average.

I had a nice stay at Hotel do Carmo, I can't deny it. But I expected it to be a bit different. From pictures and description, it seemed to be a good 3 stars hotel, new and modern; it's price was also a bit higher than other hotels of then same category, which sounded somehow as a confirmation of it. Instead of that, it's a mix of old and new, as if the hotel was an old property undergoing a renovation process yet to be finished. The pictures online are of the newer parts. For example, my room lo... Read more
