This hotel is handy for all aspects of Amsterdam, be it the Rijksmuseum, Vondel Park or the Bars around Dam Square. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. Would recommend it for families or singles. Gentle walking distance to Central Station or tram stop outside hotel.

I have stayed at NH Carlton twice before and have received excellent customer service, however on this occasion the customer service was awful and the hotel was disgustingly unclean. We booked this hotel in November for 2 rooms as it was for my partners dads birthday present. We got to the hotel at 12 so we could try check in and leave our luggage. Stayed at this hotel for 4 nights, and although it is quite dated we had a really pleasant stay. We were upgraded to a superior room on arrival as it was New Yearâ??s Day, and the room was spacious and had a balcony. The location of the hotel is perfect for first time visitors however this was our third time visiting the city and the location was better than any previous hotel we have stayed in, with most attractions being a 10/15 minute walk away if that. First time have stayed here. Hotel maybe a bit dated but it was very clean and comfortable. We had a room on the 4th floor at the front. It was very quiet with almost no traffic noise. Beds were very comfortable and the room was spotless. The hotel was always very warm. The location is great. We stayed at this hotel over New Year. The staff were very polite and helpful. The hotel is very popular with tourists. We were upgraded to a superior room. The room was nice but the furniture was tatty and in need of an upgrade. The restaurant where we had breakfast was very grand and again the staff were very helpful. I would recommend this hotel as it is in a great location for sightseeing this wonderful city

I had read the reviews about the hotel and was a bit apprehensive about what we would find but was pleasantly surprised! We had never stayed in a NH hotel before and were pleasantly surprised. The rating for the hotel was 4 stars and I think this was a good rating. This hotel is ideally situated if you want to explore the main shopping areas of Amsterdam. A lovely clean and bright reception area with friendly staff welcomes you. Our room was on the fifth floor so provided us with a view over the rooftops if Amsterdam. The room was clean, spacious and well laid out. The only thing this hotel has going for it is that itâ??s in a prime location and in walking distance from most things! Other than that this hotel disappoints massively. It smells very bad(there must have been smokers in the room before us) itâ??s dirty, itâ??s dated, the bed was uncomfortable, the room was damp, there were parts of the room hanging off, the bathroom was filthy, the dirty iron is in a dingy freezing cold room upstairs with a dirty ironing board. Myself and 7 of my colleagues stayed here from the 28th Nov to 27th December 17. Baring in mind we are paying â?¬180.00 Euros a night each. Plus we had 4 cars also paying â?¬35 per day each! Parking is horrible at the hotel. It takes the staff 20min to answer the buzzer and let you into the car park and once at your car a further 20minutes to leave. Such a bad system they are running.
