10 guys stayed in two rooms of 5, so close to the nightlife you won't need to get trams and taxis. The stairs are very steep so be ready for that. Very good price for what you get. The bar is also very cool, just like the rooms, the rock theme runs through the whole building.

I stayed here with my boyfriend at the end of January and thought the hotel was fab, its in a great location near loads of cool places to eat and drink and only a short walk away from the Red light district. the rooms are really quirky and fab for couples or friends. Shared bathroom was always spotlessly clean as well as the shared shower. the staff are also really friendly and helpful. Hoping to return to Amsterdam in April and this hotel will definitely be where we will be staying!

We were on the top floor, so had 4 flights of very steep stairs to climb. Rooms were a bit small and very basic but I found it quieter than expected which meant a decent nights sleep. Staff were friendly and very welcoming

This place might be basic, the stairs are a killer, there might only be one pillow on the bed but I enjoyed my stay so much. The guys on reception are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is delicious. The location is excellent and the price really good. I will be back.

Just got back from staying at backstage for four days and it was a great stay! The staff are so friendly and helpful they let us leave our luggage with them after check out as we had a late flight home and we're more than helpful with answering any questions. The rooms were lovely and clean and The location is perfect for exploring Amsterdam! So many great restaurants and bars near by... we will definitely be staying here again when we return to Amsterdam. Thanks for a great trip!

Ideal hotel for a group of friends - 2,3 and 5 bedrooms. We went recently for a Stag Party and the place was ideal. Not a dump aimed at a group of lads by any means - nice hotel, smart stylish rooms, modern and a good feel to the place. Breakfast available (if you are awake!), pool table, good bar, really friendly staff. Ideal location too, 2 mins walk to Leidesplein (spelling!?) Recommended.

Check in was efficient and all the staff were friendly and professional. Stayed downstairs opposite the shared bathrooms. Did not sleep for 2 days with the lack of soundproofing, doors slamming and cleaners going about their work. Try and get a room upstairs as downstairs was definitely not worth the money we paid

I booked a single room for a 1 night stay at the Backstage Hotel a few days ago. I found an incredible last minute deal on TripAdvisor and paid about $60. The hotel needs a rehab asap, but the decor is kitschy, staff friendly, and location unbeatable. My room shared a hall bath and shower, but I was pleased to find I had a private sink and vanity in my bedroom. The room was clean and comfy enough. If you're looking for a cheap, no frills option, you can't beat the Backstage Hotel.

An amazing find. Comfortable beds, in a delightful "backstage" themed room. The bar downstairs is turned into a delicious breakfast buffet (definitely try the granola). Staff was friendly and welcoming, holding our bags after checkout so we could have a walk around the canals. Perfect location for walking around the city.
