Golf

The Riviera Maya Golf Club is located on the Mayan Riviera approximately 100 kilometers south of Cancun`s International Airport. With 36 holes cut deep into an ancient limestone quarry and fairways flowing along the natural contours of a jungle dense with mangroves and gum trees, limestone boulders piled at the edge like rubble swept aside by Mayan Gods. More than a game, it is an environmental experience! To ensure that this development offers golfers an unparalleled experience, Grupo Pinero retained the world-renowned firm of Robert Trent Jones II, best known for an environmental sensibility and use of the latest technology. These golf course landscape architects have successfully integrated the nature wonders of the region with the design of the course. The Riviera Maya Golf Club has three championship 9-hole courses plus an executive 9-hole Par 3 course. At the practice area golfers will find two driving range tee boxes, a chipping area with a bunker, and a putting green that provides the perfect way to warm up before a round. Golfers also have the option to attend golf clinics or private lessons. Spanning 223 acres and set within a total of 717 acres of tropical rain forest, this club is an impressive work of landscape architecture, where the designer Robert Trent Jones II has attained a spectacular synergy between the 36 holes and the lush Mayan jungle by integrating natural lakes and cenotes [sink holes] within the rugged terrain. This phenomenal golf experience is on its way to becoming one of the world`s leading courses. Players of all levels will find that the design is both fun and challenging. Nature lovers will be delighted to interact with different species of plants and animals while playing a round. Gum trees, foxes, and dozens of birds are everyday scenery at the club.

Riviera Maya Golf Club offers the Following Services:

  • Practice Area: Open every day at 6:30 A.M. This area offers two driving range tee boxes, a chipping area with a bunker to practice sand shots and a large putting green. Also this area will be the base for the Golf Academy.
  • Club House: Providing the highest luxury, comfort and quality standards, the Club House offers a wide array of services to make your experience more enjoyable. A fully stocked Pro shop will offer club and shoe rentals as well as clothing and equipment of the best golf brands available. At both the Specialties Restaurant and the Sports Bar the golfers will be able to enjoy a wonderful view of the course while having lunch or their favorite beverage. The Spa, Gym and two tennis courts will provide the perfect place to both exercise and pamper the golfers with a beauty treatment. Finally, the snack, swimming pool and pool bar will provide a point of reunion for friends and family while sun tanning. A multipurpose meeting area, showers and lockers as well as a golf club storage area complete the array of services provided at the Club House.
  • Pro Shop: This is the reception area where you will be welcome with a smiling friendly face. Feel free to take a minute of your time before or after your round to explore and find a very complete selection of golf items and the most exclusive brands. Find the perfect gift for those golfer friends who stayed at home or treat yourself with a logo souvenir.
  • GPS: Each cart is equipped with the latest GPS technology that allows each golfer to experience in real time the accurate distance between the ball and the green as well as a virtual map of every hole. This technology allows every golfer to focus and maximize every stroke resulting in a more enjoyable golf experience.
  • Rentals: Equipment and shoes are available for all of those who left them at home. You can rent equipment of the leading brands which combine technology with performance to improve the game experience. Golf shoes are not mandatory at the course; however, if you feel more comfortable wearing a pair, you can rent them as well.
  • Etiquette: The use of proper golf attire at the course is enforced. Golf shorts or pants and collared shirt are the ideal combination. Bathing suits, denim, sandals and sleeveless shirts are not allowed at the course.

First off, the property is massive. I didn't realize that the Principe Coba property was on the same campus as the Tulum, Akumal and Premier property. When we first arrived, we were pretty overwhelmed when we saw the trolleys transporting people around. By the middle of our 2nd day, we were pretty comfortable with the entire property and getting around. It allowed us to enjoy a different view everyday, explore different pools, shop, and not be restricted to one area during our stay. The Buf... Read more

Beautiful property but really, really big. From Coba property you need to take a shuttle to get anywhere unless you are ready for a long walk (the beach, other properties, restaurants, theater, etc.. It's just too big. And everything is poorly air conditioned. Plan to sweat a lot anywhere you go!! restaurants, spa, lobby it doesn't matter. It's hot!! Biggest complaint is the property is just too big. Beach is not close. shuttles are great but you need to take them everywhere. Most of the staff w... Read more

My stay was an " okay at best experience". I will start with the staff which everyone seemed unwilling to help with anything including directions. The resort is beautiful and huge which can be frustrating when you get lost so many times. This is a perfect family vacation spot but not for the younger crowd. Even the food was horrible but better than the pitiful snack bar. Some other cons- paying for a safe in the room, not enough chairs by the pool, watered down drinks, the promotion th... Read more

We thought the buffet was awesome, any kind of food you could wish for. plus you got to enjoy tulums buffet as well which was a nice change up! For one of our 2 dinners we went to The Brazilian steak house had some of the best meats we have ever had!!! The only thing we didn't like was they didn't serve any shots besides tequila or mainly juice shots and the bed were a little uncomfortable. I have a... Read more

This resort was okay at best. The water never really was hot in the shower or any of the jacuzzi they had. Food was horrible, but location and the resort within itself was beautiful. Huge campus, you get acesss to hotel next door if you have all- inclusive. This is more of a family environment hotel resort. One of the workers stole my gold chain out my room. Wouldn't stay here again. Horrible

The hospitality at the Hotel was wonderful. The employees were so helpful and willing to assist when needed. I was disappointed that they allow children to swim and play around at the swim up bars. I would highly recommend if you choose this resort you are aware that they dont have a private pool for ADULTS only. The food wasn't the greatest, but OK.

The room wasn't cool enough, it smelled bad, and not dehumidified. Maintenance was called twice for a/c issues. The bed was comfortable as long as you didn't roll which then made loud squeaking noises. The A/c had vibration noise. The ceiling fan couldn't be used at night because of the the noise it made. Charging for in room safe is ridiculous. Restaurant food was ok but frequently looked familiar after a couple of days, The restaurants were too hot, little a/c . The room bathroom had no ventil...
