Golf

The Riviera Maya Golf Club is located on the Mayan Riviera approximately 100 kilometers south of Cancun`s International Airport. With 36 holes cut deep into an ancient limestone quarry and fairways flowing along the natural contours of a jungle dense with mangroves and gum trees, limestone boulders piled at the edge like rubble swept aside by Mayan Gods. More than a game, it is an environmental experience! To ensure that this development offers golfers an unparalleled experience, Grupo Pinero retained the world-renowned firm of Robert Trent Jones II, best known for an environmental sensibility and use of the latest technology. These golf course landscape architects have successfully integrated the nature wonders of the region with the design of the course. The Riviera Maya Golf Club has three championship 9-hole courses plus an executive 9-hole Par 3 course. At the practice area golfers will find two driving range tee boxes, a chipping area with a bunker, and a putting green that provides the perfect way to warm up before a round. Golfers also have the option to attend golf clinics or private lessons. Spanning 223 acres and set within a total of 717 acres of tropical rain forest, this club is an impressive work of landscape architecture, where the designer Robert Trent Jones II has attained a spectacular synergy between the 36 holes and the lush Mayan jungle by integrating natural lakes and cenotes [sink holes] within the rugged terrain. This phenomenal golf experience is on its way to becoming one of the world`s leading courses. Players of all levels will find that the design is both fun and challenging. Nature lovers will be delighted to interact with different species of plants and animals while playing a round. Gum trees, foxes, and dozens of birds are everyday scenery at the club.

Riviera Maya Golf Club offers the Following Services:

  • Practice Area: Open every day at 6:30 A.M. This area offers two driving range tee boxes, a chipping area with a bunker to practice sand shots and a large putting green. Also this area will be the base for the Golf Academy.
  • Club House: Providing the highest luxury, comfort and quality standards, the Club House offers a wide array of services to make your experience more enjoyable. A fully stocked Pro shop will offer club and shoe rentals as well as clothing and equipment of the best golf brands available. At both the Specialties Restaurant and the Sports Bar the golfers will be able to enjoy a wonderful view of the course while having lunch or their favorite beverage. The Spa, Gym and two tennis courts will provide the perfect place to both exercise and pamper the golfers with a beauty treatment. Finally, the snack, swimming pool and pool bar will provide a point of reunion for friends and family while sun tanning. A multipurpose meeting area, showers and lockers as well as a golf club storage area complete the array of services provided at the Club House.
  • Pro Shop: This is the reception area where you will be welcome with a smiling friendly face. Feel free to take a minute of your time before or after your round to explore and find a very complete selection of golf items and the most exclusive brands. Find the perfect gift for those golfer friends who stayed at home or treat yourself with a logo souvenir.
  • GPS: Each cart is equipped with the latest GPS technology that allows each golfer to experience in real time the accurate distance between the ball and the green as well as a virtual map of every hole. This technology allows every golfer to focus and maximize every stroke resulting in a more enjoyable golf experience.
  • Rentals: Equipment and shoes are available for all of those who left them at home. You can rent equipment of the leading brands which combine technology with performance to improve the game experience. Golf shoes are not mandatory at the course; however, if you feel more comfortable wearing a pair, you can rent them as well.
  • Etiquette: The use of proper golf attire at the course is enforced. Golf shorts or pants and collared shirt are the ideal combination. Bathing suits, denim, sandals and sleeveless shirts are not allowed at the course.

This is a beautiful resort. I mean, I had the best time. It had everything and the food was a lot! I had a great time and definitely looking forward to visiting other Grand Bahia resorts. They are so friendly and all the staff had smiles on their faces. So much to do. I'm wondering what their luxury would be like if this resort is this awesome. Beautiful animals playing around too. Very children friendly with lots for them to do. I love Grand Bahia Principe. Glad I didn't listen to any of the ne... Read more

This hotel was incredible! The property is beautiful, the staff is friendly, the room was very clean and lovely. The shows were out of this world amazing! The talent of these performers is crazy! We went to see a different show every night for the week and each one was different with so much to see. The main buffet had a nice variety every day and very delicious. Definitely take the time to go the Le Gourmet and their Tortuga Rodizio. Incredible meals. We will be back!!!

We had horrible experience, nothing but confusion from start to finish. Not friendly always a run around didn't understand you very rude. We stayed in akumael Bahia principe in may this year and was amazing so enjoyed, was expecting the the same treatment in Coba but a big fat no not in the same class. I would recommend anyone going to Bihia Pincipe please go to akumel not Coba so so much better. Our refrigerator never worked in the room so always running for ice I could keep going on but it a... Amazing experience. It was my daughters 10th birthday so we wanted to do something different as a family. My husband did the booking and chose the Grand Bahia Principe Coba. After reading the reviews I must admit I was a bit skeptical about it, but I gave it a try anyway. Upon arrival we were supposed to be checked into Coba but they then told us we've been upgraded to the Premier. Got to our rooms, very nice and cool very well air conditioned and comfortable. The food was good, we ate at the bu... Read more

We had stayed here last year and noticed a big difference in both the service and condition of the property as well as the behaviour of some of the staff. We noticed a severe lack of shuttle service available for our resort and we were denied rides because we didn't have the right coloured bands. We did encounter a lot of nice staff but unfortunately just as many not-so-nice staff. We don't think we will go back to this resort again.

So my girls and i went to Coba, Grand Principe Bahia. Once we got there our trip was starting off good, so we thought. We checked in at the Coba lobby and was being checked in by the hotel staff, both of them thought it would be nice to upgrade us to a room which they promised was bigger than our original. Our original room was the Junior Suite Room which was two rooms connected. They told us we were going to the King suite which held 3 king size beds and a sofa bed, and that we was going to get...
