This was our 2nd trip to the Azul, and we have also stayed at the Azul Grand twice. We would certainly return to either, even though this was not our best-of-four experience. We were cared for and consider the area safe, although one must take precautions, as with any trip. The staff is super nice and efficient. The wait-staff are rotated daily, so we couldn't single out any one in particular. I kept making note of names, then a new waiter would appear, just as helpfully. Alfredo at the Oyste... Read more

This is a large resort with good service and numerous well maintained and managed amenities. Popular among friendly locals, great for families with younger (under 12) children and non-spring-breaker adults The good: This property (formerly the Ixtapa Melia) is the ‚??family‚?? side of a larger complex that includes an adults-only property (the Ixtapa Grande) and a convention center between. It is clean, newish, and well-maintained. It has a large pool complex next to the beach with a shallow e... Read more

We had a fantastic vacation! This was our first time to the west coast of Mexico. Typically we go to the Caribbean. The weather was fantastic and it was very relaxing. The bus ride from the airport was about 20-30 minutes. They had corona on the bus (2 for $5 American or 50 pesos). I didn't see much American or Canadian money used... mostly pesos. The resort is 3 high rise buildings with all rooms facing the water. The sun sets are fantastic. We found the entire resort to be extremely cl... Read more

I just returned from Azul Ixtapa this morning. This hotel is well worth the money. Rooms were great. All ocean view. Maids came daily to clean, and also came at night to turn down the beds and leave more clean towels if needed. The chocolates on the pillow were a great touch. Food was good. 3 A-la-Carts and 3 buffet restaurants. Also had a Dinner & Show one night that was available by reservation. Always something for everyone. Never a problem getting a lounger by one of the many pools. U... Read more

Let me seat by saying that my wife and I have been to Mexico 10 times and this is our second trip with our kids. The first trip with the kids was to the Crown Paradise in Cancun, which was a decent kid friendly resort however the ocean was too rough for the kids to swim in. We knew going into this resort that the ocean at the Azul was merky but swimmable. We booked through Sunwing from Edmonton for one week and the cost was 4500$ for a week in a deluxe ocean room with the balcony. This was... Read more

Food mediocre at best and room temperature (steam tables were not working properly). Staff all excellent. Hotel is clean, but due for a facelift. Beach is brown hard packed and always wet due to water running onto the beach constantly. Looks like spring fed water. No coffee maker in the room and an empty bar fridge. Pools were fine and bar service and drinks very good. Many better resorts in Mexico. I will not return

Stay at the Grande.. Everything is muy Grande!. The sister resort is the armpit of the the other resort. That being said you can't beat the view and the sunsets. We had included room service through Sunwing which was nice but the food is mediocre at best especially at the buffets. The Costa Azul was the only restaurant I enjoyed. The beach sucks so go to isla Ixtapa as often as you can, it's an easy ferry and it's just as nice as any Caribbean beach I've seen. Tip: You can hire a boat off the ... Read more
