A two night mid week stay at this hotel near to the main train/bus station and the Kyoto Tower. It may have been mid week but at £140.00 sterling per night excluding breakfast. ( and that was one of the more cheaper establishments I could find) it is way over priced for what you get. A tiny single room even by Japanese standards with a huge tv that was far out of proportion to the room. The bed was comfortable and the room clean, a tight squeeze between the bed and dresser etc. Friendly staff a... Read more

The room was literally 3sqm with a 1mx1m bathroom. The ??small double bed?? was only slightly larger than a twin sized bed. The size of the room wasn??t the only letdown. Extremely overpriced compared to other local hotels ($200+ AUD per night). Extremely loud train noise all night and day; thin walls so you can hear everything next door. Strict no check in prior to 3pm even though rooms were clearly ready. Staff speak almost no English and the downstairs restaurant was disappointing. Best to... Read more

Spent four nights here whilst exploring Kyoto and surrounds. It??s probably the smallest room I??ve ever stayed in but for about $130 per night in Kyoto it??s probably very economical. The hotel is very clean and room service is excellent. The location of the hotel to public transport is its real appeal as it is located right next to Kyoto central station with ready access to both buses and trains. The hotel had free to air TV a restaurant and bar and serves a buffet breakfast each morning. I... Read more

We stayed here for a total of 3 nights. This hotel is definitely one of the most dated ones we have stayed in, but priced a bit higher than most other "budget" hotels. Looks likes your grandma's house, and even smells like one too! The saving grace is that the location is very central, being a 5 minute walk to major JR station, Kyoto, restaurants and amenities.

Possibly one of the worst hotels I've ever been in Japan. Let's see where do I start? The pillows are super thin with beads in them. Not sure you can even call it a pillow. I had to call room service to get 3 more pillows to compensate. I don't get why they don't have feather pillows or at least have it as an option. My bed also had barely any support as one side was dipping more than the other. There is no water bottles in the fridge as you're suppose to drink it from the faucet of the bathroo... Read more

There's not much to shout out about this hotel. It's a typical kind of hotel in Japan. You have to strategically move the furniture in order to have space for luggages. Room is adequately small and kinda old. My fridge was not working. The hairdryer in the bathroom needs a thorough cleaning. It's full of dust. But I do like the shampoo and conditioner provided (Shiseido, The Amenity). Overall, it's a good stay for the money paid.

We are annual travellers to Kyoto. After Ibis bumped up their rates we migrated to APA Ekimae. So far we have experienced good service. Reception staff are friendlier - maybe more comfortable to converse in English. Good beddings. Twin rooms are generally bigger than Ibis. APA is an older hotel than Ibis. Very convenient location. Will definitely return.

Hotel recommended for those who wander around the city, because it is 5 minutes from Kyoto station, and BUS station. Room has everything I need, and is extremely clean, the mattress could be more comfortable. The whole hotel is harmonious and charming, I did not go to much public areas but it gave a circular taste inside so well decorated that it was. Location is just perfect, book that you will not regret it. A 5-minute walk from Kyoto Tower

The hotel is just a short walk from Kyoto main station and in a quiet area. The room and bathroom is small just like most local Japanese business hotel. We participated in APA Eco Action Plan(similar to APA Kanazawa we stayed at)by placing the sticker on the door. The housekeeping staff will come into your room, change your towels, clear your rubbish, replace amenities, clear your rubbish and reward you with 2 bottles of drinking water but will not change the bed linens. Even on days when we p... Read more

Like all hotels at this grade the room is "spacially challenged" but it has all the fundamantels and is clean. Unlike my experience at it's sister branch in Tokyo (Keisei Ueno ekimae) I found the frontline staff cold on approach but nevertheless ;as with everything Japanese, efficient and effective. Another inconsistency I found was ;again, UNLIKE the Tokyo branch neither complimentary tea nor coffee was offered, however a bottle of water was. The main point I can commend this facility for is it'... Read more
