We arrived in the afternoon from Gotemba. We had to walk for about 10 minutes from Hakone Yumoto station with luggages and strollers. It felt very far. We should have taken the community bus from the station. Check in process was very fast. Our rooms and dinner were already prepared when we got there. Reception staff spoke good English (which is very rare in Japan). They explained to us about the rooms, onsen and kaiseki dinner. Everything in this hotel is very nice. They provide kimonos (yuka... Location: The hotel is very walkable from Hakone Yumoto Station, even with luggages with wheels. We reached Hakone @9am and went ahead to leave our luggages with the hotel and went about our tour in Hakone (using Hakone free pass) and returned to the hotel at 3pm check in time. Room: No complaints, large, clean and comfy. No need to spend additional $ on lake view, not much of a view. Onsen: There are 2 onsen @ the 5th floor, which they will alternate between men/lady daily. Both has a section... Read more

First exposure to a ryokan, very comfortable and well located for exploring the local area. Only a short walk from the station but we recommend you get the bus unless you know the hotel well as you would miss it.

This hotel is first class wow factor. Just a short walk from the railway station (probably not after dark), this hotel has everything from very stylish (Japanese) and large rooms complete with bathtub, balcony and option of futon beds on tatami matting or traditional western style beds. The staff were very helpful at all times and made us feel welcome after a full days travelling. The Onsen spa rooms on the 5th floor are not for the shy type given you are required to remove your entire clothes, ... Read more

This hotel is perfect for relaxing after a day in Hakone. I stayed one night there as part of a tour around Japan so I don't know the exact price of it. The rooms are big with a small bathtub, a nice balcony, a Japanese style shower and sofa bed. They provide you with many amenities such as razors, toothbrushes, toothpaste,...you don't need to bring a lot from home. Also there are yukatas in the room that you have to try at least for taking pictures. Obviously the main attraction is the onsen i... Read more

The BIG recommendation for our first trip to Japan was to stay for a couple of nights in a ryokan. Our agent put us in Pax Yoshino, and we were very pleased it was a full board booking. The hotel was modern and stylish, the staff helpful to a fault, and near the town of Hakone, a delight in itself. We loved the onsens or spa rooms, where males and females are segregated‚?¶this is Japan, remember, but you must use them in the buff!! Describing it as fantastic doesn‚??t do it justice. The spa room... Read more

We booked the hotel online last minute in summer and the price was still fair. Basic room but with all one needs for a base camp to a trip to Mount Fuji. Liked the spa area. A bit remote but the walk by the river is nice. There is a bus service to the hakone station. Would go there again.

This was my first trip to Japan. The agency that I worked with to arrange this self-guided trip urged me to spend at least one night in a ryokan. I'm glad I did. While it is a modern hotel, one can still choose to sleep on the floor on mats or in a bed. And, while the traditional way is to have food served in one's room, here you go to a common dining room. In the room are traditional garments for a guest to wear. And many, if not most, did so at dinner and then again at breakfast. If you... Read more

This ryokan is a fairly high level, and has slightly westernised rooms as well as traditional Japanese rooms. It also has both public onsen (thermal spring baths) and private ones that can be hired for an hour. The standard of food was extremely high, and the Japanese evening meals were excellent. Housekeeping standards were very good. The ryokan provided traditional clothing to wear in the hotel, which added to the experience.

Hotel is a little out of the main town ( appx 10 min walk) which is good as it makes for more quiet location. It is very modern in a 1980's kind of way. It has a large lobby and restaurant. Onzen was very good. Room chosen was semi traditional i.e. a bed but on mats. Room did smell as per other reviews but I think this is the nature of the onzen. It was not too bad and you don't smell it after a while. Room very large with all items required for onzen supplied. Food in restaurant was good with g... Read more
