Near enough to walk to Ortigia and walkable form station with light luggage. The immediate area has nice cafes and bars with a local feel and interesting shops (eg a specialist lute/stringed instrument shop and a bookshop/publisher. The bar opposite seemed very empty and closed before midnight. Our very spacious room overlooked the street with lots of traffic noise during the day - fairly quiet at night. We did move after two nights to a much smaller room overlooking the courtyard, but deep sle... Read more

We asked for a quiet room, so had a room looking out onto an air vent but it was quiet. It is a bit run down but has a nice structure, is handy for getting about and has a good breakfast. There is a public parking 2 mins away for ?10 a day.

Generous-sized, clean and nicely furnished family rooms. Wide choice of wonderful Sicilian pastry at breakfast. Impeccable courtesy of multi-lingual staff. 20 min. walk from quanty Ortigia presqu'île. Good quality-price ratio.

Basic hotel close to Isola di Ortigia where the classical monuments are: Templo di Apollo, Duomo, Castello. Welcoming staff who were really helpful about parking (pretty much anywhere if you can get away with it like the rest of Italy). A luxury spa bath. Keep an eye on the overflow. Surrounded by many cheap eats and lots of fascinating people sights.

This was our second stay at Grand Albergo and I doubt it will be our last. The staff are so welcoming and kind, everywhere is very clean, rooms are spacious, beds large and comfortable and there is all you need for a comfortable stay. Breakfast was even better than last year, although I would give Americano coffee a miss and go for Capuccino or Espresso. Evening meals a slight disappointment, not as good as last year. Chef possibly overextended by too large a menu. Waiting staff very good es... Read more

We were very happy with this hotel. Comfortable room, helpful and friendly staff. Pleasant location in oleander-lined streets. Short walk to Ortygia. Small gripe - no surface in bathroom (except the sink) to put one's toiletries.

Hotel service is very friendly. The rooms are very large and nicely appointed. The only thing is that some are very noisy due to the traffic. Ask for a room higher up or away from the road. Location is a short walk from the Island of Ortiga so early to get about. Breakfast is a bit of a let down. The concept of hot water for tea seemed to be a bit of a mystery. Also there is far to much cake and not enough savoury.

This is a four star modern hotel well located about a ten minute walk from Ortigia. The staff is professional. The breakfast buffet is a quality assortment. The room was clean, well appointed, everything worked... Nothing to complain about. We were lucky to find a parking place right in front of the hotel.

The breakfast room was amazing with a beautiful high ceiling and arch. The buffet breakfast was amazing with a lot to choose from. The hotel was very clean and the service was excellent. Ortigia is just 5 mins away over a lovely bridge and the train station is near should you want to visit Taormina etc. I felt we had the best of both worlds. As we were more in the city and then we would go over the bridge to the historic Ortigia.

Overall I liked the hotel, even though there were problems that made my stay a bit uncomfortable. The shower ran hot, then burst with cold water. Repetitiously hot and cold. And the shower door would not close securely, allowing water to escape to the bathroom floor - slippery when wet. The toilet stands low and has a narrow rim which makes it uncomfortable to sit on. Although the room did not smell of smoke, there was an ashtray in the desk drawer. Not all was terrible. In fact, I would ... Read more
