We had bigger expectations as we have always been big fans of Westin Hotels, however this one was not the best one at all, mostly because the service was very very bad and unprofessional, concierges always goofing and playing, staff always talking to each other and we got literally ignored several times, at the restaurant the same... the hotel is nicely located though and overall is ok, not too cheap. Will definitely choose a different option next time!

We spent the night at the The Westin Excelsior upon our return from our cruise. Beautiful hotel. Beautiful room. Can eat in or walk to cafes just outside the hotel. Can use the Hop On Hop Off bus system to see the major sites in the city. Great place to stay if you have limited time for site seeing. Service was excellent.

The hotel had a facelift recently- and the rooms have now a modern touch, while the old charm is preserved. Superb lobby with a great bar. Service was excellent throughout the hotel, which matches its great location with the sophistication of the venue.

Pros: Large suite (formerly two rooms now joined into one), large bathrooms (effectively his and hers), well appointed decor, good individual-sized toilettries, excellent water pressure, good bathroom amenities (e.g. slippers), nice lobby bar. Cons: Visible water damage in the bathrooms, room wasn't ready for check-in upon arrival despite requesting early check-in, staff were pal-ing around in the lobby rather than assisting guests, concierge wasn't particularly helpful with an issue resulting ... As an historic hotel, I expected old world charm and the lobby has that but the rooms literally reminded me of pictures of Old West bordellos. If that's your cup of tea, you'll be right at home. I'm sure there were rooms with a view but mine overlooked the air conditioning system and was unappealing. I am used to exceptional service at Westin but the service here was just average. There was literally no way to control room temperatures and no one to ask for assistance. No matter which phone nu... Read more

Rooms are tired. Need updating. The pool that they say is heated and jacuzzi were cold. The person working in gym admitted it is a problem but management didnā??t care. Breakfast at hotel was nothing SPECIAL. trying to connect to internet and doesnā??t work. Try to contact express desk nobody answers phone. Better hotels in Rome. Would not return

First the good- 1)great location, 15 minute walk from main train station, Spanish steps and trevi fountain..5 minute walk to Bernini metro station, 2)the few interactions I had with staff were pleasant, 3)hotel and room decor were gorgeous Now the bad- when a standard room in this hotel can go for 400+ a night, a guest should be able to expect at the very least a clean and mold free room. We were so tired from our travel we didnā??t notice the first night. When we returned from sightseeing o... Read more

I was not mentally prepared to arrive in this hotel. My colleagues had just checked into their hotel and were complaining and I was expecting a typical city center hotel - small rooms etc. Walked in and realised I was in somewhere special. This is a grand hotel in the classic sense. Sweeping staircase, large paintings and chandeliers, antique furniture in halls and corridors. I still hadnā??t seen my room and I was smiling. Am a very jaded business traveller and this hotel made me smile before I... Read more

This beautiful hotel is a grand palace on the Via Veneto, across the street from the US Embassy. The room assigned to us was absolutely wonderful, huge with fabulous bed, and the views from the terrace were fantastic. We were treated like royalty throughout our stay, and elevated our visit to Rome. Unforgettable. The staff is fantastic ā?? more professional than any of the teams we met during this European trip, and made us feel very special. Highly recommend this hotel and will definitely go ba... Read more

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Excelsior. The service was very attentive and our room was clean and spacious. The concierges suggested a fabulous restaurant for dinner, Tullio. I highly recommend it. We would definitely stay here again and eat at Tullio again like we did twice during our stay.
