We stayed only a few nights but they were all excellent. Locate right off the square Piazza Maggiore and in the shadow, literally 30 feet across the alley, of Basilica di San Petronio. While breakfast buffets are a staple of travel, this one warrants special attention. A large offering of cheeses, pastries, cooked to order offerings will have you leaving very well taken care of. Rooms were well equipped and maintained. A large window was available in our room to open towards the narrow street, a... Read more

This is a wonderful hotel with an outstanding staff who are all very helpful. We had a room with a balcony overlooking San Petronio that was charming. Lovely traditional type decorations making you feel the charm that is Bologna. The room was very comfortable with excellent AC/Heating system. The bathroom and shower were perfect. Breakfast is a very nice selection of cheeses, meats, fruits, pastries, yogurt and cereals. All served in a lovely setting with again, the very attentive staff. The goo... Read more

We spent a week at the Hotel. We were with ‚??Culture Discovery Vacations‚?? and this was our base. It was an excellent choice. Breakfast was great; enough variety for anyone. There is a lift, small but will hold you and you luggage. Rooms are adequate we had a 3rd floor room with a Lanai. Maid service daily and very clean. It‚??s about 10 minutes from Bologna Centrale Train Station and cost about 8 euros by Taxi. It‚??s central location makes for easy access to Bologna‚??s sites. Found a small ... Read more

We stayed one night at the Art Hotel Commercianti and it was very nice. The rooms are decorated in a traditional style. The amenities of the hotel are great and we loved the slippers! Breakfast was very very good, and one of the best buffets we saw in Italy. We also loved the location. The hotel is right in the city center and an easy 20 minute walk to the train station.

We loved our visit to Bologna - the Hotel couldn't be more central, a perfect base for walking to all the major attractions. We were in the Torre Suite. It was spacious and quirky, with the original frescos on the walls, antique furniture and vaulted beamed ceilings. The room contained a book detailing the history of the hotel and frescos. A huge comfortable bed, living area and bathroom with a deep cast iron bath. Breakfast had just about everything you could want to eat including the exce... Read more

Stayed here as a couple in September for 3 nights. The hotel is superb and our room with a terrace was so quirky. Everything we needed with great bathroom facilities and lots of nice toiletries. The staff were superb, nothing was too much trouble and the selection at breakfast was amazing. We asked if we could have fresh eggs and these were made for us, promptly starting a stampede with the other guests who did not realise they could have eggs any way up! Location just off Piazza Maggiore c... Read more

Booked this hotel because of its location to many of the Bologna old town attractions, and it is a perfect place to base yourself. Hotel is very old, with history including the property being used as places to study, before the university acquired its own premises. We had a suite which was spacious (you are not going to get spectacular views from the rooms) and well maintained, even though the rooms were a little tired, some might say adding to the charm. Housekeeping was good, breakfast first c... Read more

This hotel is in a side street adjacent to the Duomo, so it is just a few steps to the Piazza Maggiore. Our room on the first floor was quite gloomy, looking out on the building at the back. The room was small and stuffy, even with the air con on, but with the window open there was a lot of street noise. The street by the Duomo seemed to be a gathering point for local kids to sit and drink, and there was a lot of noise at night. There is a bar offering a wine tasting with canapes every evening a...
