We had the suite at the front of the hotel which overlooks the mansion house. It is beautifully furnished with antique furnishings. The standalone bath in the ensuite is sensational. We've stayed here twice and on the previous occasion we had a small room at the rear above the bar which we were told could be a bit noisy but it wasn't. Again a quirky and charming room. We had a pleasant meal in the restaurant on the raised terrace overlooking the street. Recommended.

This relates specifically to Sam's Bar. Nice bar, nice decor, great music, good crowd but AWFUL service from bar and floor staff. Back bar staff were impossible to get service from, two people from my party ended up being skipped numerous times and going to the other bar to actually get a drink. One of the guy's filling the fridge spilt my friends drink over and walked off...didn't even offer to get her another one! I was almost knocked out by a chair leg that was being carried by a staff member... Read more

Upon arrival at The Dawson, we were quite confused as to where we would park so I hurriedly made my way to reception where a lovely female receptionist deployed another lovely male staff to accompany me to my car where he carried our luggage back to reception and directed us to the car park, truly appreciated this! Upon checking in the lady explained a vast amount of information on the layout of the hotel and its facilities , although all problems quite confusing to most we made our way to our ... Read more

I stayed at the Dawson for 6 days recently during a conference in Dublin. This is a very quirky hotel, the lobby is on the second floor and then one floor up is the official 2nd and 4th floors followed by the 3rd and top floor. There is a seafood restaurant attached to the hotel that was virtually empty the week I was there so I took that as a sign and did not eat there. I rented a junior suite for the majority of my stay and found it to be very spacious and comfortable with a couch and nic... Read more

Reading the reviews from other people I tend to agree on most parts. The staff was extremely friendly and made us feel welcome the moment we stepped through the door (well ok, the moment we had carried our luggage up the flights to the reception. Yes it's one floor up). Didn't even look for the elevator, we just used the stairs. Plenty of stairs to go about. It's good to get rid of that Guinness you just had. Rooms are spacious enough and beds are comfortable. The music pounding throughout the... Read more

We stayed here for a long weekend. Quirky hotel, our suite was lovely, few issues with fittings in bathroom but remedied quickly. Bed was large and comfortable. The hotel is ideally situated for an easy walk to Temple Bar and Grafton Street. Breakfast was ok, as others have said, very little choice but what was available was fine. We would stay again because of it's central position and the bed.

Stayed in this hotel as I was attending a family wedding nearby. Really nice hotel staff and great location. However the hotel itself is dated. Our room was cold and our key cards never worked. Breakfast was mediocre. Too expensive for what is below average. Shame

First impressions of the hotel were nice easy to find, stands out fast check in etc. I paid extra for a junior suite and happy I did the room was massive and well equipped (even with iron/ironing board/hairdryer/coffee/tea/kettle) Mini fridge was not working made a call to reception within 10 minutes member of staff had brought another mini fridge to room and exchanged it no messing about. The only fault I have to put hence reason marked down is the breakfast ?? Photos I have enclosed below. Sea... Read more

Only getting around to writing this review. I got engaged whilst staying at the Dawson on 30/10/16. The staff were all so lovely. They sent a bottle of processo to the room. They couldn't do enough for us.Myself and my fiance will definitely be back.

It took us a few minutes to realise the reception was on the first floor of the hotel, but that was ok. A bit of a quirky layout with the lift only going from certain floors to certain floors and at certain times. We were glad we didn't have the buggy with us! All-in-all an okay stay as it was really just a place to lay our heads for the night. Not the greatest value for money, but central and adequate. And of course there's no on-site parking so that is quite expensive in their recommend... Read more
