This place is so central to everything and no complaints except we were over the bar for both nights. The staff are great. The rooms are spacious. The spa was so relaxing and you get a deal if you are a guest of the hotel. The bar sends up drinks to you room which is a nice welcome also. It's quaint and beautiful. Breakfast pleases everyone and is included.

Myself & my husband had a very pleasant experience at Sam's bar. We had a lovely waitress called Chloe that really looked after us. She served us our cocktails & food. Both got lovely burgers with nice size portions, really enjoyed the sweet potato fries. We didn't have to move to order a drink as Chloe looked after us so well. We watched the match & enjoyed the yummy cocktails. We found it comfortable with a nice crowd. We used the Groupon which was great value. We will definitely return again ... Read more

The rating is based on 2 parts.....the treatment itself and the facility. The treatment was very nice, really enjoyed that. But feel the actual spa needs a deep clean/attention to detail-e.g. Unpolished mirrors, in changing area - grubby light switches, grubby counter top, no keys for lockers.....If could get all those important details sorted would make the experience far more special. First impressions are very important after all.

The hotel is a walk up with a rickety railing. The "best" part is, upon check in, we were informed that our room was directly above the nightclub and that there would be music until 3 am. If we would have had transportation, we would have found another place. We were offered another room for one night but would then have to switch back to the original room for the next night. There were foam earplugs provided but weren't of much good. Total cost was $450.00 US for two sleepless nights. Our view ... Read more

My friend and I stayed at the Dawson Hotel during our weekend break to Dublin. The best way to describe the experience is to say that the hotel and everything about it is definitely an afterthought to the ( verylively, popular and well-known) bar downstairs, which also belongs to the hotel. This starts with the entrance - located next door to the bar, one enters a doorway and follows the 'Hotel' sign up one flight of stairs in order to reach the reception. The lift is not easy to find and only ... Read more

I would've given the hotel a 5* right up until the breakfast. Location wise = Excellent Room quality = Excellent Cleanliness = Excellent Comfort Staff = Very good Breakfast = Very poor Parking (including 50%) = Very expensive I booked deluxe suite and was very impressed with the size and quality of the room. It had a great view, looking directly over the Mansion House and had a touch of luxury. A few people have mentioned the outside noise as part of the reason for giving it poor reviews, an... Read more

So, I was rushing to plan a last-minute trip to Dublin--a city I know pretty well, and couldn't get into my first choice hotel, but The Dawson came up in my search and it's well-located and looked nice in the pictures, so I booked it. I didn't bother to read the reviews, and only thought to do that when I was on the express bus from the airport and walking up Grafton Street (busy shopping street). I panicked, and for good reason. THIS IS A WALK-UP HOTEL. and...IT'S OVER A NIGHT CLUB. While t... Read more

This is actually quite a serene hotel considering its location on one of dublins busiest nightlife streets. The rooms are basic enough but equipped with everything you need and the beds are very comfortable. The staff were all very helpful and all very mannerly and approachable. Its only minor downfall was the basic breakfast but the young man who was tending to it was very kind and again mannerly. The staff really are the backbone of this establishment and it was all wortg the money. Great stay

If you don't have a problem falling asleep anywhere you may find this hotel to be quite fine. The staff are friendly, the rooms are a good size and the little extras like tea/coffee facilities and toiletries are always appreciated. However, if noise and light stops you sleeping then avoid this hotel. The building is old and everything creaks, I could hear people walking around the other rooms and things in my room rattled every time I moved! When someone flushes the toilet the pipes are very ... I can't fault the very friendly and helpful staff for their great service. However the rooms themselves are old and tired and very noisy. There was a large extractor fan outside our window and we could hear the booming from the nightclub below (ear plugs are provided in the room). That said the location is fantastic. For one night it was fine but I wouldn't stay again unfortunately.
