We were really looking forward to our stay here - and it is a nice hotel but we were if anything a little disappointed. We toured a lot of great hotels whilst in India and this was probably the least genuinely friendly - and to be honest the restaurant service was at times slow and at times chaotic. On our first night after a long day of travelling we went for some simple grilled fish on the terrace - despite the terrace being a small restaurant and not full the fish took over an hour to arrive ... We had a lovely 3 nights here right on the water. The hotel is built as a square with a garden in the middle of it. The rooms have character with an old feel to them and there is a step to get up to the bed. Wifi is not good and you have to re-register every 24 hours. There are lots of very good local restaurants nearby offering excellent food at cheap prices and it is an excellent base for sightseeing around the old part of Cochin. Staff are not the best and don't always understand English ... Read more

The ambiance was great in the restaurant. This has a old colonial feel. The food presentation was good but the food appeared not to be of a high standard. The taste was not as great as we expected. The serving staff was accommodative but inefficient. .

This beautiful hotel was only built about 15 years ago but in the style of times past. Elegant and with every comfort and some authentically old furniture. We wished we had stayed more than one night. They make an effort to protect the environment including filtering their own water to reduce the curse of the plastic bottle. Evening boat cruise, to see the coastline and the Chinese fishing nets, was lovely and we saw two dolphins near the boat. Our more expensive corner room had a side balcon... Read more

Had a delightful lunch there. The view is good ...the food was outstanding... and the service was very good. There is a great view of the inner Waterway and the Chinese fishing nets. I can definitely recommend this restaurant... was one of the better places we ate in India.

The service and support given by the manager Manoj Nair and his team was outstanding. The hotel was immaculate throughout. It was central and had all the required amenities. The best part of my visit was the sincere welcome I received from Manoj Nair , his English was perfect , he knows his staff and hotel and does an amazing job . I would definitely return to this hotel . Brunton Boatyard you have it all and everything thing comes from the top down ! Thank you for everything . Deborah UK

Loved this hotel. Big four poster bed so comfy I didnâ??t want to get out of it. Loved watching the boats and ships go past. Friendly stAff. Sunset cruise every night. Afternoon tea, and cooking classes all complimentary. We started and ended our tour of Kerala here when we returned we had a welcome home poster on the bed along with flowers. Lovely touch. Good good we used the seafood restaurant 1 portion between 2 of us was plenty

First of all, this hotel is not a colonial hotel. It is built on a lie - only two decades ago. If the colonial fetish wasn't off-putting enough, staff are racist and rude. We were accused of breaking a glass in the pool, which we did we not do nor are they supposed to use glass around the pool. They not only blamed us for this apparent incident, they had five male staff members staring at us inappropriately around the pool of which I have photos.

The property of Brunton Boatyard overlooks the sea and exudes serenity. The cuisine at their local food restaurant, History Restaurant, was to die for as said nowadays: authentic flavours, exquisite and fine taste and unusual dishes; a true voyage of discovery through the palate; what enhances the experience are the stories accompanying each dish on the menu, so that you are truly in connect with your food. The waiting staff was very good and we had the good luck and delight of having Mr Manoj N... Read more

This was the best hotel we stayed at in India. Perfect location and stunning building, full of character and charm. The bedrooms are outstanding. The staff helpful & friendly. Lots on offer. The complementary evening sunset boat cruise from the steps of the Hotel was a wonderful surprise. A true highlight and gave an atmospheric view of the river and its fishing history. Lovely to see Cochin from the water. Dinner at the Brunton Boatyard was amazing. Beautiful dining room and setting. Th... Read more
