This has the potential to be a lovely hotel but it's very dated, the rooms smelt musky and damp and was described by one of our kids as "creepy"! The room was a decent size and had a lovely balcony just needs a freshening up. We didn't receive a warm welcome on arrival and were relieved we were only there for one night. Location is good as right in the village. Pool didn't look that appealing either. Shame as wasn't super cheap. Surprised the reviews are so good...

We really enjoyed our stay. Good accommodation with balcony, quiet and friendly, helpful staff. Enjoyed using the pool and the spa. We hired our ski equipment at a shop near the lift enabling us to walk to the lift each day rather than getting the bus...an excellent way to warm the body up! We had a room with kitchen facilities enabling us to make breakfast and lunch. We enjoyed dinner at the hotel but also at restaurants in the town...a five minute walk away.

My friend and I used this hotel for a short ski trip. Hotel was utterly fab. Service was excellent and very friendly. We were on half board basis and the food at dinner was brilliant, choice of starter, great main course every night, cheese board (amazing) for then desert!!! Again, the service in the restaurant was outstanding. Breakfast also very good with a great choice. Rooms were much better than the usual hotels I have used for skiing, really comfortable beds and a beautiful bathroom. Th... Read more

This is the second year we've stayed at Le Gai Soleil. I think there may be some difference in the standard of rooms as the rooms we had this year were not as good as those last year. However the staff are very accommodating and there is a lovely family friendly atmosphere and all the staff are very helpful. (The transfer from the airport and arranged by the hotel was excellent) We ate in the restaurant a couple of times and the food is very good and better than lots of restaurants in town.

We stayed here for half term week to ski. Access to slopes was easy. We stayed in the new lodge... It was worth every penny! Fantastic for self catering but we also ate in the restaurant one night which was great too. We had everything we needed at our fingertips. Transfer from Geneva was an hour. Perfect with small children. The skiing for beginners was better at morillion but this was easy to get to as well. Local shops and bars are right on your doorstep and the ski bus runs from oppos... I was really disappointed with this hotel. I had booked a "superior" room with a balcony for a short skiing break having checked that wifi was available because our business is run on-line! Allocated room 207! Top Tip!! Avoid this room like the plague! Yes, it does have a balcony but that's all I can really say about it! Noisy from the passing traffic on road outside this room is certainly not superior!! Small, not much cupboard space, no drawers, no tea/coffee making facilities, no hooks for co... Read more

Our family of 5 stayed in this small family run hotel for a weeks skiing this year. Very good half board option. Close to the airport works well. Private transfer or too expensive. Even better shuttle bus for ski lifts stops outside the front door. Food really was very good. Love this village. Second time in Samoens. Typically French. Best of both. Local village and also high altitude big ski area - if there is a lack of snow you just head higher up the mountain.

We were walking the GR5, the long distance walk and arrived in the middle of a thunderstorm having made a reservation via the Tourist Information Office. We had a warm welcome at this well presented and situate hotel, within easy walking distance of the town centre. The family room was spacious and clean. The breakfast ( at 13 euros ) was generous with a good range on offer. The only adverse comment I would make was the notice prohibiting guests taking any food from the breakfast room . In the A... We stayed here to go skiing in someon. The hotel is well located in the town, not too far from the lift which is about a 10-15 min walk. The hotel has great facilities for its price with a good pool, nice sauna and table tennis table. Food in the hotel was good although the breakfast a little sparse. If we returned to someon would I stay here again? Yes!

Used this hotel with a large group of friends whilst walking the GR5. I stayed in one of the 2 bedroom chalets at the rear of the hotel. The room was spacious and full of quality fittings. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a buffet with loads of choice and plenty of local produce. A short walk to the bars and restaurants in the square.
