The basic idea is to spend as little time in your room as possible. There is much to recommend about Monteverde in general, and the Lodge in particular, but don't go there expecting a 5-star resort town. The gardens and property are what set this place apart; they are exceptional. The room we stayed in was a king bed room with a garden patio on the first floor. The room was very small with virtually no storage, no drawers, tiny closet. We lived out of our suitcases because that was really all we... Read more

Monteverde Lodge & Gardens provided a pleasant stay after a grueling drive to Monteverde. The rooms were well appointed and quite cozy. Grounds were extremely well maintained and provided many scenic and relaxing areas. The staff were all top notch, friendly and anxious to make our stay pleasant . Very peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. Would stay again.

Simple but elegant rooms. Nice bed. We were out each day at 6AM so they packed us a take away breakfast. Excellent service. One of the staff took us on a tour one afternoon for 90 minutes and we say Capuchins and 9 species of birds in the tree in the parking lot. His scope was excellent for picture taking. Saw a MotMot right outside our window one morning. Will definitely go back.

Well the clue is in the name: Cloud Forest so of course it might be damp, what we hadn't expected was quite so much wind - but it is high in the divide between Atlantic & Pacific. Charming team of receptionists, poolside bar and other staff equally pleasant Easy access to the forest and town however 'town' not a place to linger for long, tacky souvenir shops etc but the Zip Wire was a great experience for all

One of the earlier hotels built to serve tourism in the Monteverde cloud forest, this is now showing its age and needs a lot of work. The grounds are an attractive mixture of trees and flowers, with nature trails, but they are rather run-down. The bedrooms are rather basic and badly insulated from corridor and neighbour noise. The public rooms are gloomy, particularly the restaurant, which served unappetising food in a room with many unglazed windows (a bit chilly at this altitude on a Januar... Read more

My husband and I had an amazing dinner in this hotel restaurant. Our kids were so tired of touring during the day, they headed right to the rooms. The rooms were nice size. A funny sign on the inside door says to keep the balcony doors closed or monkey will steal your stuff. Rustic in d├ęcor, but comfortable rooms and beds. We came with our teens sons who focused on the whether the rooms had WIFI and not the cultural aspect. Lovely hotel.

Leaving tomorrow morning so thought I may as well use the Hotel's FREE Wi-Fi as I sip my complimentary liqueur and nibble a cookie in our forest view room. Been an enjoyable stay with attentive staff. Restaurant serves good quality food well presented. Personally would prefer a buffet style breakfast but know full well that most would like the pamper of an A La Carte breakfast menu! Rooms adequately furnished with makings for coffee / tea. We appreciated the concept adjacent to reception of the ... Read more

The staff were all very friendly. We felt the hotel entry and dining area looked a little "worn". Coffee, tea and cake were available all day, which was a nice touch. Although we had reserved a room with two beds, we were given one with a King bed, so administration could do with improvement. The room we had was upstairs, and we had a good view over the rain forest. However, there was no where except two small shelves to put our clothes. For the price we paid per night, a drawer or two would ... Read more

We spent two nights here during a January cold front with rain and wind, disappointed to miss our tour of the Cloud Forest which was closed due to the weather. However, the friendly and knowledgeable staff helped us find excellent and memorable alternate activities (Bat Jungle, Serpentarium, Coffee Plantation tour). The restaurant/lobby had an inviting open fireplace and good food, and we were able to see into the enclosed butterfly garden. Sad to have missed the grounds which looked lovely. Our... Read more
