We spend one night here while exploring Costa Rica and found it to be a great value. The nightly room rate included admission to the onsite hanging bridges as well as the hot springs (located about a 15min drive). The hotel didn't have AC which I could foresee as a problem for longer stays and in a hotter time of the year. The food was great and highly recommend watching the sunset at the sunset bar. The one downside would be that there was a sign on the toilet that stated do not put toilet ... Read more

After a bit of a challange at check in , about 4 pm we were told that the pools closed at 6 pm . No tv in the rooms and very poor internet. So what are you going to do there. Aparently after dark , not much The breakfast was hard to swallow . Everything dried out and over cooked . Sorry just was not what I expected . Bring a good book and a flashlight .

We hired a private driver from the LAR Transporte for our visit to this resort. We did the zip lines for the very first time.We did not know what to expect, especially for my husband because he is afraid of heights. But the tour guides were so wonderful to us. They gave us proper safety instructions and reassured us that everything will be ok.At the end we really loved the zip lining experience and the height did not bother my husband, although he said he did not looked down at all. From there we... We travelled with a tour company from our resort in Papagayo. With our 3 couples we were a 'private' tour. We fully enjoyed the zip lining (oldest in our group in 61, then 59 and 57), we all did all 9! Totally awesome and VERY safe! September is rainy season, so we were unable to do the horseback riding to the mud baths and hot springs (too slippery for the horses). Instead we took the wagon ride (which was fun, too!). The steam room and mud baths were exhilarating, and then the hot springs! Th... Read more

The food in the Jaguar restaurant is decent, but too expensive for what it is... The chicken dishes we had were fine. My steak was way overcooked and there was a long hair in the lamb chops dish. When confronting both of the waiters and the receptionist, none of them apologied or offered a way to compensate. Overall ok'ish, but the staff can't handle negative comments. The staff is also pushing too hard to sell drinks instead of pleasing the customer.

We came through a tour company. I wish we could have stayed all day. There was so much to do. The zip lines were well maintained, felt secure and the staff was wonderful. They knew many of the tree species and pointed out some wildlife along the way. Randpm pictures are taken of you while gliding from post to post. If you want to glide upside down, they'll show you how to safely. We rode the horses up to the hot springs. The horses know the path so I sat back and enjoyed the lush greenery. ... Read more

We bought this package though an agency in tamarindo. If you buy directly with them it will be much cheaper. It's a full day of adventure, it includes horse back riding, a trail walk to the falls, a mud bath with sauna, hot springs zip lining and lunch. Our guy Andy was very patient with our group of seven. Never felt rush with him until we had to do the zip lining with another staff member. It's an amazing place definitely recommend. They have other places around that offer same packages. Just h... Buena Vista Lodge is off the beaten track situated around 10 km from the coast. We had a very rustic cottage with a fan - no ac. Clean, basic standard. They have a good adventure program. We did the ziplining and rode horses to the hotsprings( 4 km). We also walked the skywalk and watched the sunset from the Sunset bar - very nice! The buffet is very basic but ok. The a la carte in the Jungle restaurant is something we can recommend - both the tuna and the salmon pasta was better than average. ... Read more

We stayed there for three days two nights, they have very nice environment in the countryside on the slope of volcano, have a great views of sunset. Our room was nice and big with two queen beds, but the bathroom a little too small and the waste bin without a cover made the smell to came out, I had to use something to cover up. Some parts of the grounds were well maintained, other parts were in bad shape. Many of the hotel guests were from local and US. The whole day activities was fun and exci... Read more

If I could give it 3.5 stars, I would. There were many good features of this hotel/lodge, and some less than great. I stayed at three different hotels on my trip to CR, and this was my first stop; as such, I didn't have anything to compare it to while I was there. I arrived very late (around 11pm after my flight had been delayed), and was a bit nervous arriving at a *very dark* resort. But an after-hours maintenance man had my key and check-in folder and showed my taxi driver what building to dr... Read more
