We would have checked out of this hotel had it not been part of a package and we didn't have our own transportation. My husband smokes and even though the lodges are well away from each other and the veranda in ours backed on to jungle he had to walk outside the complex in the dark.and rain to smoke. Nonsensical when cars are allowed in to pollute everywhere. The lighting is all low level and we struggled to find our way around as we arrived in the dark. You are given a map but the lighting is ... Read more

Visited this hotel with a group tour, the scenery is absolutely stunning (the only reason this gets as high as. 3*) the hotel is badly let down by poor service - failure to address room issues adequately and the surly attitude of some staff. The restaurant is overpriced for what is on offer in terms of food quality and ambiance - both lacking. Seriously needs to up its game

Welcoming staff, tarmacked grounds designed for cars, cute bungalows with thin walls, dated decor with overly bright bulbs, big breakfasts and well cooked dinners, this hotel appears to have stopped in time in 1998. With hot springs and a clear arenal volcano view, it's not far off being a good hotel, yet feels more like a well apportioned large motel in a beautiful setting. Stay for the basics and for the springs, stay away for much more.

We arrived here on Christmas night and stayed for 3 nights. Rooms very average, not terribly comfortable, in fact the beds are quite uncomfortable. Buffet breakfast is included and that was good. Had dinner there one night and it was overpriced and not very good. Hot pools were not hot and most were empty. Good location close to Arenal and La Fortuna.

On arrival which was later than we had thought, we were made to wear a non-removal bracelet (hospital style/prison style) which did not serve a purpose during our visit. Went straight to the room which entailed a very steep climb (we were part of a coach party) in the dark with very little lighting to show us the way or to read the maps. Room was at least 100 degrees and eventually we worked out how to use the A/C. This was apparently added at some point as the holes drilled through the cupboard... Read more

The setting is spectacular with a great view of the volcano from your front porch. It's built on a hill so there is some walking involved. The spa is excellent with skilled masseuses. The pool is quite lovely and they have small mineral pools which are also a treat. It was nice to have air conditioning too. They have a resident sloth close to the dining area which they feed lettuce to. He comes down the tree to get food and then goes back up.

We spent one night here as part of a tour. The grounds are large and there are great views of the Arsenal volcano from every location. The hot spring pools are a nice way to relax at the end of the day. The rooms are individual cabins and are very nice (with a/c, hairdryers, coffee, safe, plenty of outlets). The only bar is at the pool. We had very good food in the restaurant. Their lightly fried fish was incredible. Excellent service as well. Bring a flashlight to find your way back to ... Read more

The staff here is VERY friendly and helpful. There are multiple natural hot springs on site varying in temperatures from pretty hot to mildly warm. Don't pack a white suit, as the minerals will stain it yellow. My family and I spent a lot of time in the wet bar, where the kids swam around while my husband and I had a cocktail and enjoyed delicious bar food. There is also a VERY cold traditional swimming pool, if you're looking to cool off and have a swim. The restaurant on site has delici... Read more

Arsenal Paraiso resort is outstanding. Great location to activities such as zip lining and walking through the rain forest. Cabin are built with spacious gorgeous wood rooms and have a lovely porch and rockers. The warm springs were relaxing. The lodge is lovely and food plentiful and decent.

Arenal Paraiso is a beautifully landscaped, tidy resort with charming individual cabins, a few km outside town. Rooms are impeccably clean. Lobby staff was always helpful. The food in the on-site restaurant was sub-standard and warrants the $10 cab ride to go into town for food.
