Just returned from two weeks at El Sabanero, and I couldn't feel happier or more relaxed. I was there for a yoga training, but there were other guests besides our group, too, and we all got to know each other, sharing meals, laughs, walks, and yoga classes. The owners are very friendly, always stopping by at meals to say hi, and the chefs, cleaning staff, and other employees were super accommodating. The facilities are beautiful - cabins tucked into the hillside, with howler monkeys and birds ca... Read more

I stayed at El Sabanero in November 2016 for a month long yoga course and I loved every minute. The lodge itself is very comfortable, with a fab swimming pool, a few chill out areas (hammock space!) and an open dining area. The food is outstanding - Donald and Hazel the chefs are so warm and generous, making tailored food for those that have dietaries and always so passionate about the food they serve. Everything was home amass and the fresh bread is to die for! Don't think you'll lose weight on... Read more

I have to say this place is beautiful! It is up a hill so you have a beautiful view of green landscapes and trees. The rooms are cozy and clean! The staff is super friendly and professional always doing their best to help. They have wonderful hammocks and long chairs to sunbathe near the pool. AMAZING food is served , 3 times a day + breakfast is included and you get tons of fruits and fresh juice with other goodies. Great location too, the bus stop is right in front of the lodge and you get int... Read more

The place is absolutely beautiful, with amazing food, weather, accommodation and funny things to do around the place like mountain climbing, jogging, zip lining and yoga of course! The beach is only 25 min far from the place traveling by bus (the bus is 100% safe) and around 10-15 min by car. El sabanero also have an amazing alliance with a massage therapist ????? I would love to come back !

The food, hospitality and yoga classes in the morning and afternoon were the highlight of my stay! Meals are served three times a day and the dinners were particularly delicious! The manager Harold was super helpful with coordinating rides and answering questions. this is a great quiet and relaxing alternative to the busy hotels in tamarindo. Highly recommended!!

Perfect place to get away and turn off. Chalet room was spacious and clean and well presented. Rocking chairs and hammock to sit on the balcony and watch the world go by. Pool area is perfect to catch the sun or shade. The food is great and had no need to leave for meals. I would certainly stay again. Great place for families and solo travelers alike. It is not a cheap stay, but worth it.

Beautiful views, great people, wonderful food. From the chalet you have views of the mountains and the valley farms. I sat for many hours reading in the hammock enjoying the views and the breeze. Beautiful sunrises and sunsets from up on the hill where the lodge sits. The owners are all very welcoming and helpful with travel advise and suggestions. The food is outstanding. They serve full breakfast with fresh fruit, fresh juices, guya pinto (beans and rice - delicious!), and eggs made to order.... Read more
