I went to Cartagena for my 45th birthday and stayed at the Intercontinental. At checkin they indicated they gave me a room upgrade. That was not true. The next day the manager called and said they upgraded me to a better room. Well, we just got moved to a higher floor. The room is in worse shape. The front door was damaged, the room smelled of smoke and the bathroom door had no handle. A terrible room really. For the breakfast they bill you $16. Its lousy. Any HI Express has better breakfast. ... Read more

I stayed at this hotel for 5 days and it was great. Service impeccable, friendly etc. Food including breakfast buffet was everything one would want. Pool area also very nice although windy this time of the year. Shade till mid morning also requires strategic positioning... Overall, excellent experience for me.

I helped organize a small group staying at the InterCon Cartagena. The staff made our booking process easy, despite frequent changes from our group. Ivan Gil was great, ensuring that the restaurant would open slightly earlier than normal to accommodate our early start. Sergio (concierge) was also a great resource and helped arrange our transportation as well as other details. Rooms were great - I had ocean view, but you can't go wrong since the harbor view is also quite nice. Breakfast was t... Read more

Stayed for one night on the 1st of January. Room was immaculate. Food was delicious. I do have to say, I had my best IHG check in experience at this hotel with Front Desk Agent Mayra. She was absolutely fabulous. World class act. Thank you for a great a stay! Will definitely book again!

PROS: Rooms are very nice, new & modern. Good breakfast BUT small things like Brewed Decaf coffee was served as powdered Nescafe. CONS: Shower has terrible leak. Bathrobes are extremely small (Asian people &/or women), bed is terribly hard. Front desk staff completely unwilling at every turn to respond to & meet &/or exceed any guest requests & expectations, particularly disappointing for a Platinum Ambassador Status: Extra water, NO. Clean the room at the same time everyday, NO. Upgrad... Read more

In November 2016 we stayed at the Intercontinental Cartagena for 2 nights for a romantic weekend getaway. Despite having a late arrival due to a dealy of our flight from Bogotá, we received a warm welcome by the team of the night shift. Even though upon arrival our requested bedding type was not available, Ms. Romero, who is the hotel's loyalty champion, took the initiative the next day to perfectly fix this matter and provided us the requested king bed in an upgraded room. Furthermore Ms. Rome... Read more

I can't say enough about the InterContinental. Its location is perfect - right on the beach in Boca Grande within walking distance from local restaurants and shops. Also, the staff were amazing! Sergio, the concierge, helped us by coordinating transportation and answering all of our questions. The pool atmosphere was incredible (infinity pool with an ocean view!) and the room service selection of food was delicious at great prices. My husband and I were here for our honeymoon and we'd highly rec... Read more

Very good and comfortable hotel. Nice staff, nice clean and great rooms with view to the Caribbean Sea. Expensive for Cartagena but worth the price. The pool in the sixt floor with a great view to the sea is excellent. Behind the hotel is a shopping mall and all around you get all kind of restaurants, fast food chains, bars and shops. The beach is in front of the hotel. The old city is about 10 minutes in taxi which you can get in front of the hotel ( take the white ones which are safe and com... Read more

A true "spectacle". Service staff when asked for fresh coffee, will roll their eyes so far back into their heads that you will wonder if they are owls. You will long for the basics from home like clean silverware. The intercontinental Cartagena is the anemic representation of everything beautiful Cartagena and the people are. Prefer to stay at a hostel next time.

The actual suite I got was huge with 180 degree views of the beach. The floor was a wood product but was scratched in multiple places. The plastic slider for one of the window curtains shattered when I pulled it, maybe brittle from being exposed to constant sunlight? The rest of the room was fine though mostly empty space. It was a bit odd with power outlets in the floor - I'm guessing this hotel was a conversion from apartments or condos or just an odd design for a hotel. They also could h... Read more
